I wish that #BigPharma with all of their millions and billions of dollars, could develop an actual happy pill, one that brings calm, tranquility and peace to the soul when you take it. I have a call in to the psychiatrist who is assisting with my meds, and I hope to hear from them today to see if they have any bright ideas. My current instability is literally making me tired. Right now there’s a part of me that thinks the hospital might not be a terrible option. I’ve had one experience in a psych hospital, and it was actually rather positive. But I was on private insurance in those days, and I’ve been told that when you’re on #Medicare things aren’t so great on those wards. So for now, I’m staying at home with my things, my cats, and my human, who is being such a trooper through all of this.

It just passed midnight here in East Tennessee, but it’s still #FathersDay in three of the four US time zones. I’d say happy Father’s Day, but I know it isn’t very happy for some, myself included. I have a very complicated relationship with it. I lost my dad back in 2000. And my daughter and I have not communicated in any way, shape or form since August of 2023. So let’s just say all the adverts about the day are like daggers in my heart. Also, I realized that it’s been two weeks since I checked in here. Long story short, I’m going through a rather long dark teatime of the soul right now. There are reasons, which I am not free to elaborate on right now. Kind of blown away. It turns out that applying for #Canadian citizenship is much easier than I realized. Many of my cousins are doing it, so I’m seriously thinking of doing the same. It doesn’t mean I’d move there, but the option would be available. I’d have to sponsor Sarah, and I have no idea how that works. And I also don’t have a clue where I’d want to live. Somewhere in BC seems right to me, though I probably couldn’t afford to live in Vancouver. I’d want to live in an urban area. Ottawa, perhaps? Like I said, there are no plans to move at this time, but I’m kind of dreaming of possibilities. #Immigration #Canada #Citizenship

Today I booked a trip with #Southwest Airlines and it’s clear to me that they’ve joined the dark side. Southwest has been my go-to literally for decades. They were definitely not the nameless, faceless corporate juggernaut that all other airlines were. I was aware that they had started reserved seating, but I didn’t quite grasp the ramifications of this. I was using Rapid Reward points, as I have many times before, but now it turned out that, unless willing to pay an exorbitant amount of points, which I did not have, I’d have to pay for my reserved seats, unless I was okay with being smushed in the way back of the plane by the bathroom. And you have to pay for every leg of your trip individually. So, for my round trip with a plane change, my wife and I had to fork over $228. Shame on you, Southwest, for forgetting who your loyal customers are. #AirTravel #Grumpy #Sellout

Well hmm, after reading about the limitations on #Costco memberships I decided to take a chance and fill out the application. I sailed through, no problem at all, and I’m now a full-fledged #Costco member. Not a card-carrying one yet, I need to go in and show the confirmation Email and my ID, but it does appear that I am in.

Disappointment reigns in this household. I was all fired up to get a #Costco membership. I was a member way back when I lived in Washington and I loved it. You can get great deals there. So I jumped on their website to see if you can activate a membership online, and indeed you can, but I don’t get to. This is something I completely forgot about; #Costco memberships are open to college students, teachers, health workers, military, and current government employees. I was a government employee back in the day, so that’s how I was able to get a membership then. But the website is very clear that one needs to be a current government employee. So I’m shit out of luck. #BooHiss

Got things figured out re my #MLB issue. Turns out #VPN was interfering with things somehow, and a little tweaking solved the problem. I love it when things go right! Doesn’t happen for me nearly enough these days.

I need help from the hive mind. For over a decade I’ve had an annual subscription on the #MLB app that allowed me to listen to the radio broadcasts of all MLB games. Well, about a month ago, it stopped working. When I pull up audio, it says empty list, which means no broadcasts are showing. When I try to select the option to look at rosters I get a 403 access denied. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, twice. Tonight I even went as far as to upgrade to MLB Plus, which allegedly gives me access to the TV broadcasts, not that that means a lot to me, though MLB Network looks like it might be interesting. However, I still have the same problem. Nothing is loading, nothing is showing. It’s like my subscription doesn’t exist. Has anyone else experienced this? Help! #A11Y

#Books #CurrentlyReading Everything Is Tuberculosis by John Green. It’s a fascinating history of the disease, including various treatment regimens over the years. It’s also sad to see how stigmatized those who suffered from TB were, even if they recovered. Even families would abandon someone who had suffered with it. Still and all, though,it’s an interesting read.

So I’m sitting here in my recliner kind of mindlessly scrolling through #Mastodon when I start hearing music. It didn’t take long to figure out that the #Alexa device in the bedroom just started playing spontaneously. Some really bad country song called Doin’ It, or Doin’ This, not sure which, by someone named Luke Cone. I have no earthly idea why this happened. Like, do we have gremlins or something? This is why I really don’t like the horror genre of fiction.
