I almost lost my shit when I discovered that "Claude Code" started rephrasing the included copy of the Apache 2.0 license in a random bugfix commit.

When I worked in the US I did a cost of living analysis. At the time, counting everything, also these hidden taxes, I was taxed as much as I would have been in Belgium. It just wasn't taken out of your paycheck directly, but by a thousand cuts.

Arrest an innocent Black person too poor to make bail. Charge them with anything. They know that their life will be ruined if they are in jail for a year trying to prove their innocence. They know that they will be brutalized and assaulted in jail for a year, and lose custody of their children, have their credit destroyed, lose their house or apartment, and worse.
Offer them the opportunity to plead guilty and go home now. Most will just take it.
This is 95% of convictions in the USA. Not a typo. Ninety-five percent of criminal convictions are plea deals.

German car manufacturers dragged their feet on EVs for a decade, allowing Chinese manufacturers to overtake them.
They had instead focused on cheating emissions tests (remember #Dieselgate?) and on pushing back against any kind of green regulations.
Same companies are now holding their employees hostage, demanding government regulations that benefit them specifically.

Feels like all of us (even people w/out a car) need to pay way more attention to the WTAF new rules affecting EU and US folk, requiring all new cars to include a driver monitoring camera aimed at your face.

Risky's @campuscodi writes the new regulation has entered into effect in the EU on Monday and will enter into effect next year in the US. In the EU, the new camera requirement is part of the block's second General Safety Regulation (GSR2), a broader swath of new safety rules introduced for the auto industry and designed to improve road safety.

Incredibly sad. Especially since according to a recent investigation a whopping 51 THOUSAND refugee kids were lost in the EU in 3 years time, and nobody proposed legislation to make sure they don't end up in trafficking networks.
But now Zuck can "volunteerily" scan all your whatsapp groups and sell the data he can extract from that. All that because some eejits fell for the classic 'but think of the children'.

Sadly @Vivaldi also removed support for UBlock Origin. Now it's only Firefox flavours having it. I'm going to try UBlock Origin Lite, let's see how that goes.
Obviously Vivaldi has its own blocking of trackers and ads, but once a site took anti-block measures, UB Origin outshone all competition.
