These are the words of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, director of a major Gaza hospital, who has been detained in Israeli prisons without charge since 2024 and whose life is thought to be in imminent danger.

He has reported suffering daily beatings, sometimes resulting in loss of consciousness, and has new, severe injuries to his head, neck, ears and eye area. He is so weak that he struggles to sit upright without falling.

The UK government must demand Dr Hussam Abu Safiya’s immediate release and for him to receive urgent medical treatment.

Spain just became the first EU country to blacklist Palantir, the US data firm whose AI targeting software powers Israel's killing machine in Gaza.

I spent last week in Rhayader - right in the middle of rural Wales.

On a walk along the riverside I greeted a person coming the other way. She said “you’re very Welshie aren’t you?”

I despair.

My #CDR friends on twitter got mad at me for pointing out that the four regional Direct Air Capture (#DAC) Hubs under the Inflation Reduction Act (#IRA) specify a minimum CO₂ removal capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year.

Hence, each DAC Hub is a #time #machine that takes us back only about 40 seconds a year!

It's important to point this out because some people think CDR is a replacement for #decarbonization and that can never be the case.
