¿Sabían que las palabras que forman mi alias, Aetherius Eldritch, tienen un origen muy antiguo que no tiene nada que ver con el terror?

Mucha gente cree de forma muy equivocada que el adjetivo Eldritch sirve únicamente para describir algo sobrenatural, siniestro o relacionado con el horror cósmico, pero la realidad es que están completamente equivocados. El hecho de que el escritor H.P. Lovecraft utilizara esta palabra en sus historias para darle un sentido oscuro desvirtuó por completo el origen real del concepto, haciendo que la mayoría se quede con esa idea sin investigar más a fondo. En realidad, este vocablo proviene del inglés antiguo elfriche, una combinación de las palabras elf y rich que significa textualmente reino de los elfos.

Este nombre se utilizaba originalmente para referirse a lo extraordinario, a lo que está fuera de lo común, lo incomprensible o a lo que no pertenece a este reino material. Esto no significa de ninguna manera que sea algo negativo o siniestro, ya que los propios elfos por definición pertenecen a otra realidad y no son criaturas malvadas. Por su parte, la palabra Aetherius proviene directamente de la etimología del término éter, que representa la materia pura de los cielos. Este es un claro ejemplo de que hay que investigar más a fondo el pasado de las palabras, no juzgar antes de conocer y no quedarse con lo primero que uno encuentra en internet.

So excited to share the new book covers for my ecofiction trilogy! These were designed by Canadian artist and graphic designer Laurie Landry, who artfully incorporated my paintings. I worked on the trilogy for 15 years and the paintings (part of a series of 27 large panels) for 5 years...

The first two novels, The Erenwine Agenda: A Hydraulic Fracturing Love Story, and Otter Coast: A Medical Marijuana Mystery, were previously published and will be reprinted with the new covers. Rail: A High Speed Adventure, will be published for the first time in a few weeks.

What connects fracking, marijuana and infrastructure, you might ask? They are threaded together by the singular journey of the protagonist, Amalia Sengupta Erenwine, who begins as an intern working in architecture, then pursues her licensing exams, and finally, works as a registered architect. Her visionary states lead her across regions, countries and continents, culminating in the final novel, Rail. Though a trilogy, these can be read (and people are currently reading) standalone, not in order. I'll share more with next steps and notes from the studio.
