I don't know if this is technically feasible but what do people think about adding the number of overall favorites you have received to your profile?
I think it could be a valuable stat for whether to follow someone or not.

Which will last longer?
Fred #Trump, father of Donald Trump, was arrested OTD in 1927 for assaulting a police officer while marching in robes in a Ku Klux Klan parade https://toilet-guru.com/trump/?s=mb #racism #history
P.S. After I read this I was wondering where the US stands in terms of subsidizing oil companies.
Based on another Guardian article $31 billion a year in direct subsidies.
It gets a lot worse if you count in the indirect costs of the damage oil does.
Just so bad.

I just read an interesting article in the Guardian about how China is ascending and the US is declining which it mostly attributed to that fact that as "the world shifts from molecules to electrons" oil powers decline.
One other thing from the article is a phrase they used to describe the desperation of the declining powers "fossil fuel fascism". A little too uncomfortably on the mark for me.

A lot of people say that Trump wants to be king.
I think that isn't quite true.
Trump desperately wants the power of being a king to stop him and his family from spending the rest of their lives in jail for what they have done.
This makes him dangerous motivated to destroy our democracy.
Tim Cook is traveling to China with Trump. Cook went to the Oval office and bent the knee and presented Trump with a gold bar. For years now Apple has been using Chinese laborers under very questionable labor conditions.
Is Apple still a cool counterculture corporation or a corrupt facilitator of oligarchy?

@AE4WX Thank you for boosting this and thank you @PricklyPam for posting.
I was just trying to get a post together in my head about how we have to start using something like the phrase "Research gap" to trigger the macho idiots in power by threatening their exceptionalism into investing again into research.
"Other countries have larger and more powerful research units than the US. Their women are more satisfied"
Sorry if that is a little gross but what they are doing is exceptionally gross.
When confronted with all the terrible failings of the US' attack on Iran Republicans have fallen back on the line:
"The cost is worth Iran not getting a nuclear bomb"
This is a dangerous mistruth.
The attack has significantly increased the chance that Iran will develop nuclear weapons.
We don't know where their enriched Uranium is.
Killing the previous Ayatollah removed the fatwa against developing nukes.
They must have a deterrent against Israel and the US attacking them again.
Each day I wake up hoping Trump can't get worse and somehow he manages to continue to disappoint.
When our clueless leaders get somehow blindsided by Iran blocking the Straight of Hormuz they scream that's so wrong.
But now somehow the US right wing cheer squad says blocking the straight is so right.
Are we pirates now?
I grew up in the 60's and the cold war between the superpowers USSR and USA was at its peak. China was still a minor player.
When the USSR broke apart and left the USA as sole superpower I asked myself the question:
Can there be a monopole?
If you know some physics of magnets the answer is basically no. (I'm a science geek)
So thanks to Trump speeding the decline of American power magnetic equilibrium is being restored. Yay?
If I understand correctly besides the President not having the Constitutional authority to withdraw from the NATO treaty without Senate consent there was a law passed in 2023 co-authored by Marco Rubio that makes it illegal for the president to withdraw or otherwise harm the NATO alliance without 60 votes for it in the Senate.
But the rule of law in the US has seen better days.
Could the US just pay to end the Iran war?
Instead of spending $200+ billion on military and its associated destruction and loss of life maybe the US could just pay Iran that money in exchange for opening the Strait and letting nuclear inspectors into their country freely and safely.
We could pay them in installments as long as they don't launch any missiles or drones at other countries.

"I've heard people say that this bad thing happened" is not evidence of anything.
That said we shouldn't be using touchscreen only voting machines.
Trump urged the Iranian people to rise up and overthrow their government now.
The man is plain stupid.
So when a country who is known to not worry about genocide, Israel, is attacking your country violently, Trump thinks that is a good time to go out and protest your gov?
Also in what world does your gov being attacked by an outsider not raise nationalism and support for the current regime?
Almost every single Iranian will be fighting for their country's freedom.

I was a little concerned that I had been buried in snow when I woke up. This is the view out one of my windows.
Luckily it is just snow that got blown into the screen. We do have about a foot of snow and it's still going here in Westchester NY at 9:45a. No point in shoveling yet with it snowing and blowing so hard still.
In response to the Supreme Court decision that Congress is in charge of tariffs not the president, Trump has decided to raise US tariffs on the world's products imported into the US from %10 to %15.
The big baby can't figure out a way to get retribution on the Supreme Court so he is going to make all us Americans pay for the Supreme Court just clearly following the Constitution.
It looks a lot like Trump is going to war with Iran to distract from the Epstein files and also make Bibi happy.
But it might be that Iran has kompromat on Trump according to this Meidas Touch video.
We'll have to see if Trump backs down on war with Iran in face of this blackmail.
