The fact that Task.Delay both takes an int (as milliseconds) and a TimeSpan has been a rather significant cause for error in my recent code, when I have waited for 1ms rather than 1 second - and if that didn't fix it, then for 2ms, which is of course not quite the timeout I was going for.

So this sounds important in the release notes for the 18.0 home assistant O/S upgrade:

"Raspberry Pi 5 users need a bootloader from at least 2025-02-12, otherwise the display output may freeze early during the boot. Update the bootloader before installing this update, using one of the following methods"

The recommended bootloader update suggestions include doing it manually with a screen and keyboard attached (I have never had this on my raspberry, and I'm not sure I have the appropriate cable), inserting an sd-card (I guess that could be possible, but super inconvenient) or

"if you have an SSH terminal app installed, you can run ha os boards raspberrypi firmware update over SSH right after updating the OS."

So... I need to SSH in, or will home assistant actually come up and running again? I wouldn't want to brick my installation because I read this wrong.

Jeg bruger min opvaskemaskine forkert. Jeg har altid skyllet alt af før det kom ned. Når der en sjælden gang er kommet en meget beskidt tallerken med er den kommet ud meget beskidt.

I går kom jeg bare alt ned i opvaskemaskinen uden at gøre andet end at skrabe det værste af - Altså det som producenten anbefaler (men hvad ved de om ting de selv laver?). Alt kom ud helt rent!

Det forholder sig åbenbart sådan, at opvaskemaskinen måler hvor beskidt vandet der forlader maskinen er og vasker efter behov. Er næsten alt helt rent, så bliver den beskidte tallerken ikke ren. Er alt møgbeskidt bliver alt rent.

Jeg er ikke den eneste der gør sådan (f.eks har jeg lært at bruge en opvaskemaskine af min mor), så erfaring hermed givet videre.

Jeg kan betale ekstra for at få strøm fra vindmøller. Kan jeg få færre penge for min strøm (Fra solceller), hvis jeg ikke vil have at den går til datacentre?

I really like discovering new music. It's the great feature of streaming services like Tidal or Spotify. But this is COMPLETELY broken when they start shoving #AI generated music into my discovery playlists! Not to mention the fact that this isn't evident ANYWHERE, so I have to search around because this sounds a bit weird or why the fuck do you keep suggesting SKARS EVERY WEEK as something new I might enjoy when I don't even listen to that genre?

Seriously, the first music music streaming provider to ban AI music gets my patronage and undying love.

When seeing TV shows such as the last of us and 28 days later (movies count too) I like to imagine that it's a purely American problem and the rest of the world has the problem completely contained. USA, only ever focusing on themselves, and the rest of the world having long learned to let the crazy run its course, are completely oblivious to the fact that they're all alone in not being able to contain the zombie infestation and it's not in fact the entire world that is overrun.

The same goes for Fallout. It's only USA that has been nuked for profit. Everyone else just go about their lives as usual.

Concept idea for a TV show: Next season always follows whoever wins. If the villain wins, that's the main character. You never know who will come out on top, and the villains will have to have a fleshed out, relatable backstory, because next season it might be the protagonist.

Så er jeg i går blevet færdig med bog 9 af He Who Fights with Monsters. Det er en LitRPG-serie om en mand der lander i en verden med monstre og eventyrer, hvor man i bedste RPG-stil har klasser, særlige kræfter og levels. Hvis man er til den slags, så er det en af de bedre serier (måske tydeliggjort ved at det er bog 9 jeg er færdig med). Masser af eventyr og vanvittig humor. Gennemført fladpandet.

So many levels of wrong here. Google’s newest reCAPTCHA “experiment“ tells people to scan a QR code in order to verify that they are human. Yeah, like scanning a QR code displayed by some random website is a good idea in the first place.

But of course your ability to scan the code isn’t what verifies your human nature. That QR code merely tells you that you need the reCAPTCHA app (on iOS) or newest Google Play services (on Android). In other words, you have to verify that you own a mobile device and are providing data to Google. Which they promise not to share with the website, like that’s what I’m worried about.

This obviously excludes people who don’t have a smartphone, have a de-Googled smartphone or simply don’t want to feed their data to Google. And it again ties a large chunk of the web to Google services. If reCAPTCHA wasn’t evil before (a questionable statement), it definitely is now.

Jeg har ikke selv brugt appen, men endnu en grund, som kan udledes af svaret er jo, at appen konstant holder en netværksforbindelse til Rejsekort. Dette betyder at telefonen bliver holdt vågen, og derfor kommer til at bruge langt mere strøm end hvis den kunne få lov til at sove (som er den normale tilstand, hvis du ikke bruger din telefon).
