Wineows 11 makes normal computers act stupid at times. Not sure why Humanware thought stringing KeySoft architecture off an unstable and ever-changing Windows 11 with also NVDA, which can break addons on occasion. That is not dissing NVDA, just being straight up.

Shit. Cancelation season has begun. This is the time of year where I'm glad I knewhow to save money. For the next two and a half months, work is likely to be slow. But I've been so slammed. i know this will seem like no big deal. But I have always done poorly with metronomes, freeze up when I try. This keyboard class requires you to play with backing projects. I just did a bunch of different chord progression things in C including voice leading to the stupidest backing track I've ever heard, but the fact that I did it was a big deal for me.

@munchkinbear Is the new Focus out? I hope the dots are better. I loved all the buttons and it worked great with Jaws. But the space car was so flat I kept caving them in, plus failing dots.

I'm sorry if my opinions on the Evolve are harsh, but I expect more than sluggish even main menuu. I expect Brf files that open on other Humanware devices to open properly on the Evolve. Iexpect to have a find command. I expect software that installs in one minute on my computer not to take ten minutes on the Evolve. I don't think I've had aWindows-puter that slow since 2016. Maybe it's better than a ChromeBook, but it's sadly the worst Windows machine I've ever tested. I hope they fix the problems and it becomes something wonderful o day. I have friends who work there, and it's not to crap on Humanware. As stated, I love my Brailliant and implementation on the Monarch. AND as stated, I think Windows 11 and its crazy updates are going to make this a nightmare platform for anything like this. It's ambitious. but it's not ready for primetime.

I think Humanware would be well-advised to start marketing this device as what it is, yes, it's a Windows machine, but I think of it on the level as a chromebook or something. You can run basic apps but don't try to modify or change anything. The truth is, I just jdon't think this type of architecture can work on a Windows machine. Too many variables, mainly the instability of Windows 11. Even sighted people have had their work software broken by random updates. I think at this stage of the game, we need to be honest with ourselves. You can have some Internet features or apps on Braille devices, but whenever you've got some other architecture running on something frankly as unreliable as Windows 11, I'm not surprised. Because my husband did ask me. He said, sure. They've done some stuff wrong, but he and I have both had major issues the first time we tried Win 11. It's too much of a moving target with no way to slow it down.
