I love this. Now I want to make one, and use this as an excuse to make my own logo that would work with this…

That said, once you get it right, it’s SOOO satisfying.
Current status: Quite satisfied, thank you very much.
Why is doing correct color so hard?

Fuck SpaceX.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@ameel/116876206535102801
Fuck yea.
I’m just going to put this out there:
I’m rereading the whole “Rivers of London” series (I have all the text and graphic novels) and reminded how much I really, really enjoy them.
If anyone here knows the author, Ben Aaronovitch, and would intro me to him, I would be in your debt.
I have no ulterior motive other than being a huge fan.
And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, but you like well told stories, across multiple mediums, check it out!
One lesson I'm always relearning is what stories to tell to which audiences.
A story that resonates with one lands with a thud with another.
As a person that prides himself on his pithy anecdotes, I'm always doing a pre-roll of the story I'm about to tell for the audience I'm in front of.
That is, if I'm doing my job as a competent storyteller, which I am not always doing…
In decades past (and sometimes still) my main issue was telling convoluted stories. I've gotten better, but it's hard.
In case you're wondering how I ended up with a ticket to a 7AM screening next Friday at an IMAX 70mm screening…
So I figure there will probably be some sessions re: The Odyssey at SIGGRAPH in a few weeks, but I have a very narrow window to see it in between all my travel over the next few weeks.
I missed this for Oppenheimer a few years ago and am not making the same mistake. All signs point to it being an excellent flick.
Here’s what the “step” looked like yesterday after I’d pressure washed it but before I sanded or oiled it.
I’d forgotten just how heavy it is.
I had not pressure washed it since we made and installed it, in early 2008.
Ipé is amazing… and so heavy!
Looking at that pic now, I think we just sanded it and didn’t put any sort of oil on it.
Be interesting to see how the finish holds up.
It’s not in direct sun half the year, which is better than the rest of the ipé I have in fence and deck.
3 day weekend here, spent time organizing, trash removal, pressure washing, sanding, oiling, assembling, more pressure washing…
Such a relief to have gotten so much of the house in a better place, organizationally speaking.
Real progress on our big patio renovation.
Still need to cover our OG (1949, so 77 yrs) concrete bench (we have a plan) and pour a concrete pad under our ipé deck under our pizza oven and BBQ.
Pressure washed, sanded and oiled our big ipé step out the doors.
Progress!
My sympathies to those in OAK with creatures in the household that do not like explosions/fireworks.
Because it’s not even proper dark, and we’ve got lots of both.
Let’s just hope these selfish idiots don’t light the hillsides on fire.

jock-asses….
Oh boy. My one and only crown just came out.
That's not good.
What’s going on at Bandcamp?
At this stage in my career, it's become a bit of a trope, especially in the last decade or so, that while I know I'm a big (aka “intimidating”) personality, I really *am* usually in a position where I can honestly say to folks “I'm here to help" and mean it.
That said, I *never* say “Everything's going to be okay” - that's not something I can promise.
I can promise I want to help, though…
So I'm a bit conflicted about this:
RE: https://mastodon.world/@OpenSexism/116848074881856737
Humans are terrible.
<sorry, new data coming in…>
Men are terrible.
So several months ago I signed up for a Facebook account.
I'd had one early on, and it was fine (my timeline was not gunked up with weird political shit) and I had found it useful in the early days to find old grade school and high school friends.
Eventually I got creeped out by the app, and so I finally nope’d out (maybe 10 years ago?)
So why did I sign up again? My plan was to use Facebook marketplace to sell some stuff. Never did use it, stuff is all sold, so I just deleted it again.
