#WordWeavers July 6 – Which of your MCs would be most likely to win a dance off?

All my Korean main characters dance to some degree at festivals and parties, but in individual dance-offs I think Jozi (Between One Word and the Next) would definitely do best because she's got that swagger to please the girls.

Now, if I ever write that story about the 9th century Arab or Persian doctor (?) turned Korean god, #Cheoyong, I think he'd be the winner because dancing is central to his story and the dance in his honor is performed to this day. Chase ( #SubconsciousMind): Gareth. But don't tell anyone. He isn't physically attractive but I crushed so hard on his personality.
Kai ( #AsIf): Jannis. He thinks, I haven't noticed him but that's not true. But how could I ever tell him? I mean, yeah, he's shy and not acting very cool, so, I guess, he doesn't know how good he looks—at least in my eyes.

#WordWeavers: Which of your characters would win a dance off?
In WCAP, that’s tricky, but I suspect either my vampire Sunny, my werewolf, Tara, or the mysterious predator haunting the woods. All are amazing athletes and are wild and funny enough (ok, maybe the predator’s not funny, but they are charming) to win.

Probably happiness, mostly cause I have a hard time recognizing it in myself. Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows~ is kinda beyond me, but I can write...neutral? quiet? happiness.

#WordWeavers 7/2 What's the hardest emotion for you to write and why?

I don't think one emotion is any more difficult than another. For me, the difficult part is hitting the right pitch of emotion for the scenario. I don't want the characters over or under reacting (without good cause anyway) but I also want the emotion to feel genuine. That sometimes takes a few drafts before I hit it right.

I saw a production of the Scottish Play in the globe once where, after MacDuff gets news that his children and wife were murdered, takes the news completely deadpan. He still said the lines, but might as well have been talking about the weather. It was bone-chilling and worked so, so well!

Jealousy because it’s not something I distinctly ever remember feeling. I guess I’ve just always felt like there’s enough to go around if we’re decent to each other, and if my guy wants another woman, then he’s not the right one for me.

Today's a good day to explore haunted castles.
If you don't have castles in your area, try visiting some spirits at an old bookstore, the abandoned docks by the harbor, or a shopping mall that is half closed and barely holding on.
Ghosts get lonely too, just like we all do.

June #WordWeavers - Day 2

My funniest character is Thea Briar, Molly's werewolf mom, or Rowan, my fire witch MC. Rowan would describe Briar Hollow, the town where she lives, as a "hell scape of emotionally stunted goody two-shoes who wrote the book on toxic positivity." (No one in Briar Hollow is allowed to practice black magic, and even the idea of it scares them so badly that their entire culture has been impacted).
