TIL Shell was originally a Dutch company but at the beginning of the last century it merged with a UK transport company and now it’s HQ are in London.

i have always thought of them as Dutch ―and the kind of company the Dutch have used, for centuries, to hide as profiteers of atrocities.

this is a particular part of Dutch history i’ve explored a bit, trying to find the banks and investment groups that might have profited ―via stock options― from my ancestors enslavement.
