My youngest (18) and their friend tonight

all homemade, very proud.

Well, that was sad.

Helping a novice scientist with their presentation and every single illustration is AI generated. They acknowledged that the images were not what they wanted but they don't know how to do illustrations. I asked whether their lab had a bank of illustrator files or old ppts that they could take illustrations from and they were uncertain.

OK lab heads, if you don't want your labbies using bad AI illustrations, provide them with something else.

So here’s the thing. My entire life is on Proton: email, calendar, documents, VPN, all my passwords, all my ID, all my important data.

My annual subscription is up at the end of January.

If they don’t oust Andy Yen by then, I’m out. The question is where?

Infomaniak seems to offer most of what Proton does but they also use AI.

What other options are there? I’m seeing people suggesting email alternatives. But I need a whole lot more than that.

I’d like to thank Binance for teaching a load of crypto bros why banking regulations that make it possible to reverse fraudulent transactions exist.

I wonder if Anthropic loudly and unambiguously hand-wringing that it's not going to be able to burn enough fossil fuels is going to discourage climate orgs from buying obscenely expensive Claude subscriptions
