The year is 2040.
You see another traveler, wandering towards you across the arid wastelands.
"Like 'n' subscribe," he mumbles, nodding to you as you pass.
"Like 'n' subscribe," you reply.

Unpopular opinion:
The part of the word that is being elongated or stressed should be the repeated letter on message boooooards. Not always the last letterrrrrr.
I AM HE WHO IS CALLED BY LOVED ONES ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS
My favorite poem, Against Entropy by John M. Ford, was written as a comment on Patrick Nielsen Hayden's blog Electrolight in 2003. https://www.nielsenhayden.com/electrolite/de_vermis/
The worm drives helically through the wood
And does not know the dust left in the bore
Once made the table integral and good;
And suddenly the crystal hits the floor.
[...]
Electrons find their paths in subtle ways,
A massless eddy in a trail of smoke;
The names of lovers, light of other days —
Perhaps you will not miss them. That’s the joke.
The universe winds down. That’s how it’s made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you’ll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.
God: You have probably 70-80 years before you die, ideally.
Man: Oh, well I'll make the most of-
God: You'll be unconscious for 1/3 of the time.
Man: …Uh
God: *Leans in* That'll be your favourite part.
Just gonna start blocking accounts that try to sell me crap that 'makes my life easier' by removing me from the creative equation.
It's big for me because I don't block people. I didn't, anyway.
Thus far I've been able to curate a creativity and snark focused timeline. These posts feel like encroachment. Go hide in your hovel and send spam emails like the rest of your ilk.
If you needed a win as badly as I have lately, mark this one down: CSS-Tricks is returning as an independent publication.
Spread the word.
#WritersCoffeeClub Oct. 27: As a writer, what do you need right now?
Some helpful Beta readers who are not close friends or relatives to comment on what I've got so far in my WIP.
I adore pineapple and anchovy pizza. The salty, sweet, unctuousness is my jam. It really is. Just now, though, eating my completely-out-of-context eggs for breakfast, I realized I haven't tried blue cheese and anchovy pizza. That's a huge miss. Gonna correct that this week.
#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 27: As a writer, what do you need right now?
Easy one! I need a magical solar flare from a distant start to reach us undetected and permanently alter the biology of humans so that we feed on aerosolized carbon through folds in the lining of our lungs so that we no longer require the deaths of other forms of life for survival.
And financial stability.
#ScribesAndMakers 25 October: What's something you accomplished this past week?
I made a new background track for Shadowloch's Wake, the game inspired by the poem "The Red Wood" from the collection "Thin Windows". That's all three ttacks ready.
The game still needs some fixes (the game freezes at certain actions because I'm not very good at following the rules when writing JS), but I'm confident it will be ready for launch on Friday.
Need to do a teaser vid.
@Lana Liquidity is always and everywhere a strawman argument. It is easily solved by allowing wealth taxes to be paid by transferring ownership stakes to a social wealth fund.

25th Oct 2026. What's something you accomplished this past week?
My graduation ceremony. Couldn't get to Ireland so celebrated at home with my close family and friends. It was heartwarming.
I am hoping to build a desktop PC and finally get away from my 5 laptops.
I am putting together a list of parts and the prices are making my eyes explode.
So, a few questions for the fine folks of the Fediverse.
What parts are ok to go second hand? (I know that storage is probably best to get new).
If the CPU I am looking at has a stock cooler, do I need to get a separate heatsink and fan cooler, or will the stock one be fine?
The case I'm looking at has 3 fans at the front and 1 at the back, do I need any more fans?
Thermal paste - what's the best one to get? Does it actually matter?

EDIT: Forgot to say, this will be my first desktop PC and my first PC build, so all my knowledge thus far has come from LinusTechTips videos.
shoot for the moon bc even if you miss you might clip some SpaceX satellites
I’ve decided to do… A BONUS MAP! *air horn*
This is Greyshore, Realm of the Displaced. It’s where our D&D game currently sits and my favourite part about it… my friends and I made it together!
I built out, roughly, where the natural features are (shadow borders, ocean, rivers, etc) but then I screen shared the map maker and my players contributed on settlements locations, who lives there, what factions exist, etc.
Great fun! I’d recommend community worldbuilding.
Caulked the line between the brick and the stucco, but muscle memory kicked in and I fingered the line before remembering this isn't the 'water clean-up' stuff. Had plenty of sand left, so I tried rubbing my hands together in that and succeeded in spreading the issue.
Made my way to the grease soap and now my hands are squeaky clean, significantly less hairy, and lamb's-ear soft. 10/10. Would recommend.
Do you know anyone looking for a cute, secluded cabin in the North Georgia mountains?
We're selling ours. It's about 15 minutes north of Ellijay, and about 15 minutes South of Blue Ridge, sitting on the edge of the Rich Mountain Wilderness, a few hundred yards from the Benton MacKaye trail (which feeds into the Appalachian trail.)
It's a beautiful property and a weird little cabin that I really enjoyed living in.
If you think you might be interested, DM for details.
