I wholeheartedly believe that every man should watch this video, because i bet none can grasp quite how terribly women get treated, even at work, without being challenged

@thisisjofrank:
“I gave a talk at EMF titled "Men in Tech #YesAllMen", in which I told my experience of being a woman in tech. I was afraid to publish it in case it affected my current or future employment.

With all the current news I would like to add my 2¢. So here is the recording:”

Why does our (western) political economy not optimize for the quality of human relationships?

Remove Schumer and Jeffries or none of this means anything.

@virtuous_sloth It starts to be distributed on Nov. 13, but it may take a few weeks to make it out to all stores.

@mpjgregoire @virtuous_sloth Russia went to permanent DST in 2011 but it was unpopular for the reasons it’s going to be unpopular here, getting up earlier all winter in the dark. In 2014 they moved to permanent standard time.

My hope would be we switch to permanent standard time sooner rather than later but who knows with this government.

Hard to believe we are less than two years before the centennial of the commercial production of pre-sliced bread loaves.

Could this Canada-EU thing portend a much looser, more decentralized, more self-sovereign coalition-federation of middle powers than even the EU itself is, with the possibility of Australia and Japan eventually joining in?

Good article about the Canadian-based Graphene OS hardened Android OS.

It turns out that the AI Singularity is in the form of a financial valuation problem of capitalism embodied in the S-1 SEC filing for Anthropic's IPO.

What do you think, @8ball?

Learn about experience designer N. D. Austin in this episode.

Experience designer sounds like such a bougie job but he is a very interesting person.

I dislike the current practice of using ONLY interest rates to target ONLY inflation. Other places include employment levels as part of their interest rate calculation. There are other tools for price stability, but they've all been tossed out by neoliberalism, the extreme form of capitalism currently practiced.

That's led to the current mess, where capital returns are too high, and labour share is too low.

Congress could remove the requirement that Treasury issue notes bearing interest:

Don’t let the system, the people who most benefit from it, and those who seek to perpetuate it change you into someone who would do the things most likely to perpetuate it as well.

Have hope, try to do what you can, when you can, to lift others up. It can be empowering. But in any case, connect with people.

Debt is a social construct and therefore always up for debate.

Of course, debate is as well.

If you ask someone a question on the Fediverse, and they answer it, do you owe them an acknowledgment?

UPDATE: I messed up this poll. I meant if you ask a specific person, but a lot of the replies seemed to presuppose an open question to a lot of people, which feels like a different social context.
