@bovine3dom and I'm even posting this using Tridactyl on Firefox, browsing in XR with Vim bindings 🤩

Trying Stardust XR "display server for VR and AR headsets on Linux-based systems" on Frame https://video.benetou.fr/w/dbgZwv76hDU8LaeVFA2G6y

Cool behind the scene bit : video shared directly on device to my self-hosted video server, then shared on social networks, ALL in XR, no desktop or mobile involved.

Talk about going against the zeitgeist : Sanitize ALVR from AI generated code (de-sloppification) https://github.com/alvr-org/ALVR/issues/3440

Very interesting to see how that will unfold.

Much better version, From bash script to XR widget in WayVR, controlling home office lightbulb https://video.benetou.fr/w/53fNwAhAYCSsHXDcGJ6AzB

IoT control in XR, HomeAssistant on Frame with passthrough

Open stack means no tinkering, just open the Web page on the XR headset, do the thing, no proprietary app, login only on your self-hosted instance. Private and just working.

When your XR headset is a computer, proper, why not make important content available right there, locally?

@kiwix running on the Steam Frame with the Zim files of Wikipedia, Stack Overflow and the Arch Wiki documentation

Damn, did my first iteration cycle on the Frame for the Frame, using WayVR thanks to its Wgui Framework and of course my trusted Vim.🤩

- add widget
- try
- fail
- edit
- reload in the app itself
- wow! I did a thing, all in XR!

You don't even have to launch the application itself BTW, you can delegate that to your settings, using e.g.

ssh frame -t .cargo/bin/wayvrctl process-launch -- xdg-open group3.pdf

Warning if aliens👽 land on Earth🚀 🌍 :

- Idiocracy (2006) is the documentary and The Diplomat (2023) is speculative fiction, NOT the other way around.

🤷‍♂️

The super power of interoperability, behind boring tools, new usages : Starting an application on an XR headset from a mobile phone, no proprietary app needed

Using Termux on GrapheneOS to start Firefox on my wiki page on a Frame thanks to wayvr

People don't realize how far reaching "just" using Linux & relying on standards and protocols is.

You don't use an XR device you are a guest of, "allowed" to use only what few people thought was the "right" way.

It's the PC era for XR, today.

I just made an icon with a plaintext file but it's MINE!😍

That's how fully featured CopyParty is :

fabien@debian2080ti:~$ python3 ~/Prototypes/copyparty/copyparty-sfx.py --help | wc -l

1694

... nearly 2000 lines of options!😆

Before you ask, yes you can add text using a virtual keyboard, a physical Bluetooth keyboard (easy to use with passthrough) and even voice dictation (using e.g. Wayvr) if that's more your thing.

What if your giant whiteboard was not a dedicated new app but rather the one you have already been using for years, only using it in XR?

Using @libreoffice Draw on Frame, no change, just Linux via Discover.

Funny how glitches can inspire, what if your terminal as a filter could be manually moved through a directory or set of files?

Think of ls *jpg or find | grep but applied to a subset just based on your hand motion🤔

Wow... genuinely shocked by how Web Apps can now be first-class citizens ... in XR!

So I joined a meeting in XR yesterday (it was going a bit slow...) only to discover the "Install" button in the browser.

Meeting went on then today I open my system menu and... the Web App is there, right in my XR system menu alongside native apps🤩

Desktop files in XR, available as if they were on the device itself, no tinkering, just interoperability.

(Used CopyParty to make a WebDAV server then just opened its URL on Dolphin on the Frame, nothing installed on the device, worked out of the box.)

Got a cool XR demo or prototype to showcase to friends & colleagues remotely?

Join a (self-hosted) Jitsi Meet session then share your Frame camera. It won't be your face or your desktop but rather your point of view ... letting you showcase live, from the browser, with 0 installation!

Funny Frame trick, the IR passthrough let's you see inside the controller, on the left the controller turned off, seeing through its shell, on the right the controller turn on, UI overlaying on top of it, hiding its electronics.

What if you could control your XR windows locally or remotely? Check out Wayvrctl for WayVR IPC, here remotely controlling my Frame content from my Linux desktop https://video.benetou.fr/w/1NPRMDM492nrovrNVSjiXt
