Now the hard work begins. Track and publicize every veto and why that hurts the ordinary citizens.
Publicize every pardon and executive order and how it harms the ordinary citizen.
Keep explaining what is being done and manage expectations.

Images on the sites also for the most part suck. Showing the screen isn't a big deal for me. The big deal is a clear shot of all of the inputs/outputs. Three HDMI is nice, but I also have a five port switch so that the cable box, Blu-ray player and wife's gaming system connects easily. Two spare ports for when the kids & grandkids come to visit and want to hook up their gaming systems.
Oh joy! Our 65" TV died. It was at least eight years old so not worth the price to repair it. We were lucky as the family room has an older 50" hooked up to the VCR, Blu-ray player and computer tower and I moved it temporarily.
Now doing our research for a new machine. It won't be 65" as that is too large for our living room and the wife doesn't have cataracts. Max 55" would work, but it must have a digital audio output for the soundbar and woofer. Normal TV speaker sound to be kind just sucks.
Oh, this personal mini project will take me days to write up.
Doing a 'briefing' note to the board about a few things including security. I am trying to keep it as short as possible and written at a level that is easy to understand with good links they can go for detailed information.
Then on to DR/BR/BCP as I don't know if they even considered it.
Things like passwords, web security, encryption to start with. I keep telling them that it is WHEN not IF there will be a breach and I want to give them the basic tools to protect our sensitive data, proper basic security practices (personal and corporate).
Then the standard phrases they should be using in the various documents. In some they refer to the same thing several different ways and one phrase could cause confusion. I will be recommending them to check with the lawyer on two of the phrases so that legally there is no confusion on what they are referring to.
I made it explicit that I am not a security 'expert', but my current job does touch on security and best practices along with forty-five years in the IT industry in a number of roles.
It isn't a magic bullet. Keep in mind there are side effects. I was on the injectable until COVID and everyone wanted it for weight loss and it wasn't available so I had to go to an oral version. For the first few years the side effects was nausea and diarrhea a couple of times a month. For the last year it was almost daily nausea and diarrhea was several days a week. New version of the med was prescribed a month ago and nausea is gone and the 'runs' are amost gone.
Diet and exercise is also a large part of managing my diabetes. Also, checking my blood sugar levels three times a day so I am very aware of where I am.
I start mid November. I start with 3.5 Kg (about 8 lbs) of dried and candied fruit. They soak 24 hours in one cup of good brandy. After baking and they are cooled I remove the paper wrapping I baked them in. Then a spoon of brandy on each and wrapped in waxed paper and into the fridge. Every week I pull them out and another spoon of brandy on each.
I don't put any topping on them. When served it is by itself or I warm it up, slice it into a bowl, add butterscotch sauce and a good French vanilla ice cream.
FYI, I have started purchasing some of the baking supplies. I find spreading it out over several weeks easier than spending about $500 (cdn) on a weekend for all of the supplies.
Fudges, squares, cakes, cookies, meat pies fill the house with great smells for about six weeks every night when I do my baking. A dedicated freezer for the items I can freeze.
Last year ->
9 meat pies
6 fruit cakes
4 batches of fudge
10 dozen butter tarts
Several batches of
chocolate chip cookies
shortbread cookies
raisin rocks (like a ginger cookie)
cherry balls
Mixed variety of squares
Ended up with 42 tins of baking. Part went to family, part to work and the rest for us at home.
I find (and probably everyone else) that beating the crap out of butter, sugar and flour is better than beating idiots.

SIGH. No one checked the CVE list for one month while I was away. Not fun going through over 160 entries.
Another pre-pre-release meeting. Clients only see the result, a release going in smoothly. They don't see all of the work done weeks ahead of time. Planning on the detailed steps of rollout, backups, checkpoints, rollback process if there is a problem. The RACI chart, communication plans. All documented and version controlled in the repository. Next week the bosses present an executive summary to the board for their approval for release.
<sarcasm>Sure, doing a release is easy and anyone can do it.</sarcasm>
Here is another reason we have issues with #octranspo. I was checking on the timelines from home to work for Tuesday. Put in the address and two issues.
1. I have to say Carling Campus instead of 60 Moodie.
2. The route isn't the correct one. It makes me go towards the core (Lincoln Fields) and take the 'new' express back. It should recognize the #57 at Moodie and the 417 (Road 49).
Using their routing it takes 55 minutes. Using the proper one I noted using the #57 bus takes about 35 minutes. I have only been taking that for six years now so I am familiar with the buses. Anyone new will get screwed over and double their time to work by bus.
I take the bus as it is convenient (when it does show up), as a senior I get it free on Wednesdays and pay a reduced fare for the other days. I would like to drive in as that is 14 minutes, but we don't have enough parking and I would have to go on a wait list to get a spot.
Sigh, 1100+ emails in my work INBOX. I am glad I have filter rules. Go to the various 'bulk' mailing folders (I organize by type), select all and mark read. Same goes for the various production notifications. Releases I marked all as read as the boss didn't have anything in his folder about issues. Boss and co-workers took priority and it only took me an hour to go through the several hundred left in their folders.
Tomorrow is municipal election day in Ontario. If you haven't voted in the advance polls please take time on the 26th to vote. If you don't vote, then don't complain about the government you get.
A bonus weekend for weather. Late October and the weekend is forecasted to be sunny and warm. I may do a BBQ for the wife and also finish off the fall cleanup for the backyard. Over 50% of the maple leaves have fallen and I want to get those cleaned up before it rains on Monday. There is something about the smell of leaves and the sound of me raking is very relaxing.
After that I will probably lay out the extension cords and put up the various light holders on the fences while it is warm rather than me doing it late November when starting the Christmas lights. I put in part of the stakes for the lights at the front earlier this week as last year it was a PITA pounding them in frozen soil.
My wife loves Christmas and I try to go overboard a bit with the lights and decorations as she has mobility issues due to her stroke and gets frustrated that she can't help as much as she used to.
Time to redo the redo of my RWA. Official note that it is now three days a week. I will do that on Monday as I will not fire up the work machine while I am on vacation.
Timely for me. Annual checkup and diabetes review with doctor. Hopefully a short discussion on one of the meds and the side effects. New formula works a bit better (minimal nausea), but one is still a pain in the gluteal region.
If “meet applicable safety requirements and remain safe to operate,” then why are they breaking down so often?

Rant time for interfaces on web sites. A checkbox is that, one OR MORE items to be selected, not one. If you want one item selected then use RADIO buttons. Also, stop refreshing every time I make a selection. Wait until I am done and then have a REFRESH or UPDATE button. I know there are some that say I don't know anything, but I was doing SGML documents and HTML pages in the 1980s for work so I have a bit of knowledge on that.
Also, review the code for each page in your site. There is so much slop included that isn't needed to present the page.
Facebook and me. Chromebook, nuked it. I had a choice of portrait or landscape. Go landscape and it wouldn't properly resize to take advantage of the screen space. Left it on my phone, but it is overrun with spam, AI and scams. I do the 'ignore' option, but I would like to say don't present any AI or at least I can put in 'AI SLOP' instead of 'ignore'. Obvious scams most of the time I don't report it as the overwhelming response 'met our standards'. I guess their 'standard' is that the cheque cleared.
I am not against all AI, just the slop and people thinking it can do everything for us. At work I use it to help quickly find what I am looking for and it is good at that. It does hallucinate at times and I pointed it out to the devs as I am very, very, very familiar with our system documentation and what it stated does not appear in the documents. Proved it by doing 'retention', 'seven years', '7 years', 'accounting standards', 'legal document retention period', 'document retention requirement' and nothing appeared in my searches OUTSIDE of AI in our repositories.
