Like "Ahhh yes now I see why you wear this every day, childhood-archer-best-friend."

I love when you unlock one of your party members' canon clothes as an equippable in an rpg and the stats are cranked all the way up.

In Dragonsword, we got character swap combat as usual, but with an extra twist: each character has two conditional jump-in special moves. With a bit of thinking, you can set up your party to chain stuns and launches and status effects for a nonstop parade of super attacks. It's a lot of fun, with room for special mechanics in specific characters.

I do wonder if they'll expand the roster in future patches or dlc.

Dragonsword gives you a character select ticket every 10 story quests, and also unlocks characters not in that list via story quests. The "karma" equips that would have surely been gacha are also unlocked from a list with certain treasure and mission rewards. So far none of the characters feel underpowered, which is an oddity for this kind of game!

Like, if Wuthering Waves ever has to go offline, I hope the character and weapon unlocks can be exactly like this.

#Dragonsword: Awakening is like a solid 8/10 for me, but the repurposing of its live service bones into a solid standalone game is really well done and earns it an extra 5 points for a staggering 13/10.

In short, it's a genshin-type game without any gacha or live service things, so you can focus on the exploration, character building, and sick-ass combat. You still get lots of goodies, but it feels earned and not progression breaking. It can also serve as a blueprint for the bigger games.

History shows that little ponies love living in castles for no reason. I guess they're naturally drawn to them!

Pitch for G6 My Little Pony:

-wandering ponies found a mysterious castle full of secrets and moved in.
-soon hundreds of ponies started living there.
-episodes solving castle mysteries with an expansive cast.
-villains can be magic monsters and sealed curses and other trouble.
-S1 finale: the very serious castle owner returns to find his place overrun with colorful horses.
-Think Hogwarts or Castlevania meets MLP.
-NO ties to Equestria or G4.

Moving in is a slow process. I gotta get the basics in first~

Kabitte poses for the camera as she activates her ultimate ability!

Alternate line: "What'd you say? I'm ALL EARS!"

Finished up this old sketch of Paige. She has an understated cuteness, huh?

Another example of hardware mastery is the fact that every rhythm game controller has its quirks, whether you're using a clacky keyboard or a plastic guitar. Knowing the best way to tap your buttons is a big part of getting into rhythm gaming!

Rhythm games are peculiar because true mastery requires mastery of the hardware as well!
For example, I just adjusted my sync offset at the arcade ddr machine to +15 ms and suddenly started breaking all my personal records!

Picture this:
A new gacha RPG comes out. The character designs are cute and the gameplay is solid (or perhaps even unique!). You load it up on launch day and wrap up the tutorial, immediately getting:
100 free draws
Guaranteed SSR character
100K gem coin jewels

Naturally, you redeem all the freebies the devs handed out and end up supremely overpowered for the rest of the game's story. It feels nice to get free things, but the game's not built with any challenge in the standard content! (2/?)

Alright, time to finally talk #gacha and #videogame balance. Let's start with the thesis:

Progression and game design standards tend to go down the drain when gacha is involved, and it's not entirely because of pay-to-win.

So let's talk about it... (1/?)

I spent 20+ hours, ruined my burthday, and spent all my mental health to clean up my apartment so I wouldn't get evicted. Art is gonna be hard for a while!

Decided to finish an old sketch of Paige in a raincoat~

Two sketches from the beginning and end of Harmonycon 2026, brought together in one render! I'm impressed how I managed to make their compositions compliment despite sketching them on different pages!

More sketches from sketchbook swap!

Somehow the usual Sketchbook Swap event was absent from the HC 2026 schedule, so we decided to embrace the rebel cyberpunk theme of the con and hold our OWN.

AlkaneWreath already had experience running this kind of event, so they got some fliers printed and we set up on Saturday evening, just outside the concert. We had at least a dozen artists participate and everyone had a great time!

At this year's Harmonycon, AlkaneWreath attended with binder full of blank trading cards and a mission: get all 180+ popular MLP:FIM characters listed in the folder drawn by different artists, and donate the result to the charity auction.

Unfortunately, 2 days wasn't nearly enough time to draw ALL the ponies, but the total count was at least 80 and it opened the charity auction with an impressive (but far too low) $350 donation.

Here's the 4 cards I did!
