Episode 100 of Access On, is on.
This week, we mark our 100th episode with reflections on the journey so far and a song to celebrate. National Federation of the Blind President Mark Riccobono speaks with Sid Gaitonde, Vispero’s recently appointed CEO. We also share a cautionary tale about being completely locked out of your own Apple Account.

Eleven v4: Our most expressive text-to-speech AI model yet https://elevenlabs.io/blog/eleven-v4
Wish the "Dictate" button in the top right corner of the message text field in the Messages app on iOS and iPadOS behaved more predictably between dictation and audio messages, or just wasn't there? You can set a default behavior for it, or hide it from the UI, by going to Settings > Apps > Messages > Show in Text Field, and selecting an option. #TipTuesday
It’s important to note that while there is nothing wrong with building these WhatsApp app clients, it is however against the terms and conditions of Meta to use a third party client that does a similar job to their own clients, which could lead them to ban your account. It is fair to say that there are little reports of such bans, but it is also fair to recognise the risk is real. If your WhatsApp account and number matters to you, you need to ask yourself if it’s worth the risk. We can and absolutely should challenge Meta to allow us to build our own apps and also improve the accessibility of their own apps and sites, but for the moment the risk is real so do tread carefully. https://mastodon.stickbear.me/@kaveinthran/117557140531501020

JAWS 2027 released! https://support.freedomscientific.com/Downloads/JAWS/JAWSWhatsNew#Enhancements
Good morning! And what a beautiful hopeful new day it is! :-)
So many people must’ve had this number before me, even though I’ve had it for almost eight years. Today I got a text that says it’s election day, Kenneth. I will be sure to let Kenneth know. Also, Christina and Shawn
A Leasey update is available.
New in Build 1175.
Internal changes have been made to Leasey File Manager.
In Leasey Word, added Control+Enter to create a page break.
In Leasey Media Centre, ALT+Control+P is now Recently Played.
Recently Played brings together audio files, podcast episodes, radio stations and audio launched from Leasey Social. It keeps the latest 100 distinct items, most recent first. Playing an item again moves it to the top rather than creating another copy of its history entry.
Each item includes its name and whether it is an audio file, podcast episode, radio station or LeaseySocial audio. Podcast entries also include the podcast name.
To display only certain types, use Tab or Shift+Tab to reach the four Check Boxes: Audio files, Podcast episodes, Radio stations and LeaseySocial audio. Press Space to check or uncheck each type. The Close Button follows the check boxes in the Tab order; Tab again returns to the list. All four are checked initially. Your choices are remembered, and filtering does not remove history entries.
Hello friends! I finally ported one of my all-time favorite audio games, Drive, to Mac OS. It now plays like brand new from the store! Have fun!

I've been using Fastmail since 2021 and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a privacy-focused email service.
For those who are blind or low vision, Fastmail's web interface works quite well with screen readers, and the service is also compatible with Outlook Classic, Thunderbird, and the native Mail app on iOS.
Interested in giving it a try? Here's my referral link:

I was laid off today. First time I've dealt with something like this. Not much else to say at this stage.
If anyone has meteorology work of any kind, please let me know. I'm pretty tied down to Hermiston for now, but open to some forms of hybrid work in the Pacific Northwest.

I pride myself on my ability to avoid political shenanigans, so I will probably not be around much tomorrow.

Same, I’ll be happy when tomorrow is over.
The Rapture may be going one person at a time.
Either that or nobody noticed it happened to only one guy in central Dublin.
The Chat Place 0.4.0 is out, still a pre-release. It now runs on Linux as well as Windows and Mac, backs up and restores your chats, exports many at once, and has better GitHub Copilot support. One keyboard and screen reader friendly home for your Claude, Codex and Copilot chats. Thanks to aaron-gh for the Linux port and Timothy Spaulding for the Copilot work.
Hey everyone. I just need to express how cool it is that all these apps are coming out that give us better access to some platforms that we have struggled to access. I know that AI has its issues, etc. I am not saying it is absolutely perfect, with no issues and can do no wrong. But I have to say, what some people have been able to accompllish with it is amazing to me.
