It is done. Good riddance. #digitalOcean

I've had a productive 2 days: A minor bug fix PR'd in cpython, and a minor doc fix PR'd in mkdocs. Sure, it only amounts to a couple dozen lines but damnit they're human generated lines.

It's one AI generated meme, Michael. How much water could it take, 20 gallons?

I'm not going to change a single thing on any website I operate in order to make it work better with LLMs. do you have any tips on making it work SUBSTANTIALLY WORSE instead?

OH; back when the internet was "third spaces"

Chat is it weird for a white guy to call his acreage "the rez"?

TIL that:

• tampermonkey has not been open source for years
• many of my userscripts (which typically are JUST injecting css) have been broken due to CSPs preventing the injection of CSS

Using violentmonkey and the "real GM_addStyle" function (rather than a coded-up block to inject a script tag into the document) fixes these issues.

And in particular, it allows 2 of my userscripts to run properly here on my home mastodon server again. yay.

(the zip export from greasemonkey mostly seemed to import into tampermonkey, except a couple of scripts that were so old they were about fixing google+ layout quirks!)

@whitequark

Hi! I have a grebedoc question, if you're willing to take a moment to answer.

What CAA record should I publish for a domain I want to host with grebedoc and where I use an ALIAS record rather than a CNAME record?

I have been publishing on a subdomain where the domain has CAA issuewild "letsencrypt.org" and it looks like grebedoc successfully obtained a certificate ... it's no surprise if grebedoc uses letsencrypt but I didn't see where this is documented.

with apologies to @RikerGoogling who has probably done better versions of several of these already...

@gloriouscow random question. martypc & cga snow -- should it happen? Here I think I've selected the original "5150" for emulation, so I expected snow. Using https://github.com/MobyGamer/CGACompatibilityTester/releases/tag/v1.32

@warthog9 I just noticed the post length is at 500 characters instead of what it's been (4004?) -- is this a mistake or intentional? Thanks!

For some reason, pyladies is hitting the safe search feature on ddg. wth ? @pyladies

it's an integer, Michael. What could it cost, 10 bytes?

I took off my blindfold and stepped off the one-seater. The one-seater gave two chirps and scooted off around the curve of the hallway.

Now, where was I? The station is not that big, but that doesn't mean it is all familiar.

With my implants turned off, the standard RF corridor markings were invisible to me. And no way would I vocalize to ask Station where I was.

No, I was going to win my navigation badge fair and square, returning from this randomly selected location to our troop den, room 318, level 12, B-ring, L5-station.

If your document includes a jaunty little emoji in every heading I'm gonna skip right by it because I feel like this is a sign of LLM generation. chat, am I right or wrong about this?

way back when, I followed a couple of accounts with daily microfiction prompts. they dropped off the fediverse. please link to any accounts doing fiction writing prompts! #microFiction #lazyFedi #lazyWeb

Hey #lazyWeb #lazyFedi is there an API to request that #InternetArchive preserve a page in the #wayBackMachine?

I'm faced with moving or killing my blog, and before doing anything rash I'd like to make sure every page is preserved somewhere.

I had a general look at https://archive.org/developers/internetarchive/cli.html and https://archive.org/help/wayback_api.php and if it was there I overlooked it.

boosts welcome.

@dns yay, ACME DNS-01 verification using acme.sh & dns_pdns API was easyyyyy! ❤️ servfail @dns

Thanks to @dns I've now moved DNS for a couple of my domains off #digitalOcean -- like so many, I'm keen to leave that platform due to their financial backing of the far right.

However I now need to go fix SSL certificate generation where I'm using DNS-based challenges. 💦 should be fine, they have an API.

Since #prusa3d decided to automatically close all their old issue reports (most of which were never given any visible activity from the prusa side) in the lead up to #prusaslicer 3.0.0 being released, I actually re-tested one I'd reported .. and of course it reproduces.

so I commented on that one, and then had to file 3 fresh bugs for new terrible UI behavior in their 3.0.0 alpha release.

Wanna take any bets how responsive Prusa will be to these reports? There are a LOT of recent comments with varying levels of politeness in the bugs they had set to auto-close with zero Prusa follow-up, I can tell you that.

In the bug of interest to me, there actually HAD been a comment that I think came from a prusaslicer contributor -- to the effect that the bug was probably upstream, so no action was possible by them. But, my sibling in git, YOU are the one with a relationship with your upstream, so why don't YOU go ahead and report this to them so it can maybe get fixed someday? I do NOT have a relationship with your upstream!

Anyway this is getting angrier than intended so I'll stop typing now.
