#firefox 157 includes very unpleasant UI changes called “Nova”. You can turn those off by going to `about:config` and turning `browser.nova.enabled` off.

How do you tell #emacs that your terminal has a dark background? Out of the box the text is unreadable because it uses dark blue everywhere. Anything like `set bg=dark` in vim.

I've tried:

`M-x invert-face <RET> default` -- made the background white

`M-x set-variable <RET> frame-background-mode <RET> dark` -- did nothing

Trying to switch from #neovim to #emacs but not being able to read the screen is real blocker.

Gitlab is trying to force their genAI agentic BS on users. I have it disabled for my work projects but now every single page I open a chat window opens up prompting me to enable it. FFS. We are paying for Gitlab. If we've turned Duo off, stop desperately begging for it to be turned on and using half the screen while doing so! #gitlab

Gave @Waterfox a try but had to revert. Looks nice but not ready for prime time. Just using it abd boom all my windows and tabs gone. After it happened the 3rd time in under an hour I gave up. Also couldn’t find a way to disable the annoying tab grouping. I use container tabs for everything so don’t want tab grouping. Disappointing. I had high hopes. Still looking for a FireFox replacement.

Is there a Mastodon client that works like Twitterific did for Twitter? I.e., chronological timeline, keeps track of last unread, none of this “show more” shit, easily go to last unread, easy to read display, and optionally syncs unread across devices. None of the clients I’ve tired do this. None of the clients seem built by people who actually read their timelines. Any recommendations would mean a great deal! Thank you 🙏
