En voi sanoa ettenkö epäröisi...

Kaikki on mustavalkoista, sillä se joko on mustavalkoista tai se ei ole.

How come some people manage to do some type of leadership, coordination or representative work year after year without pissing anyone off and still being considered more beneficial than detrimental to most?

Osaako joku kertoa, mitä yhteyttä/eroa on taaplata tapuliin/taapeliin? Kun haut löytävät joitain vihjeitä, että tapulin yhteydessä puhutaan tapulouinnista. Naapuri puhuu taapeloinnista taapeliin. Itse muistelisin, että taaplaamisen yhteydessä olisin kuullut "taaplingista".

Someone designed, with good intentions I imagine, a multicoloured jigsaw puzzle using 3 distinct colours for the pieces for autism-awareness, when the four colour theorem sais you should need 4. I thought they were smart about it, and carefully used pieces that only connect at the corners allowing only 3 colours - and smack in the middle, they overlap just a little...

Is it proponing autism awareness by making specific undiagnosed au-ppl anxious?

They were so close...

"the four color theorem, or the four-color map theorem, states that no more than four colors are required to color the regions of any map so that no two adjacent regions have the same color."

Do you remember when "AI" was considered cringe?
"...two leading AI researchers who experienced the "winter" of the 1970s—warned the business community that enthusiasm for AI had spiraled out of control in the 1980s and that disappointment would certainly follow"

"There were two major "winters", which lasted approximately from 1974–1980 and 1987–2000"

Bottlenecks Get a Bad Rap - Jim Nielsen’s Blog

After working a year on cross-platform screen reader support and endorsing a more accessibility oriented mindset in the company has played tricks on me. I can't switch off noticing antipatterns or improvements in the daily apps I use.

10/10 would do again. As one with less experience on the topic, immersing yourself into #accessibility really took a year to get a better understanding - which is still light years from understanding living with the technical and social barriers related. I'm constantly surprised about new aspects and learnings on a daily basis. And at awe how blind users can navigate through tech.

"Most words have a 50% chance of being replaced by a new non-cognate word every 2,000–3,000 years (a word's linguistic half-life 5), but among the words in the Swadesh list there is at least a 100-fold variation in rate of change, such that some have linguistic half-lives under a millennium whereas others are expected to last over ten thousand years."

Everytime I use windows it feels like it's calculating a whole bitcoin on opening a menu or a splash screen. Compared to other operating systems Windows has always seemed sluggish.

But why? Has anyone looked into that and found obvious design flaws under the bonnet that other systems have resolved better?

"Emojis - the fingersalt of conversations"

My summer readings arrived!

The first taking a different route from the typical meritocratic echo chambers to provide perspective into software teams backing it up with a ton of references by @grimalkina.

The second an introductory although quite thorough look into geology by Prost.

Wrote a post on how software terms are simultaneously considered dogmatic and exact, while remaining often vague and creating confusion.

>  humanities work to precisely define and further refine their concepts as they research fuzzy life observations in the spirit of the scientific method. That practice could bring clarity to software engineering
