Week 43 of #WeeklyBeats

The thing I tried that's different to usual for ‘Stanislavski's Theatrical Moths’ is that it's got no synths. All tuned material comes from processed field recordings.

He also told me he was going to get involved in the Mexican election and would have his own candidate, because they were extremely interested in removing her, the president, from office. How do they get involved in elections? As you mentioned before: by distorting public debate, through cognitive fraud, dirty war tactics, buying influencers, their coordinated bot farms that organize attacks, that manufacture trending topics. All of that, what does it do? It distorts public debate.”

" #Brazil is a case study of Silicon Valley’s #digitalimperialism.

Employees at #Meta admitted in internal communications obtained by Brazilian journalists that, in the lead-up to Brazil’s elections this October, the US corporation censored the accounts of left-wing President #Lula da Silva, doing significant damage to his campaign for re-election.

Brazilian journalists have documented more than 1,080 pro-Lula accounts that were censored by Meta before the election."

Please keep Brazil in your minds and hearts in this difficult time while we wait for the election results telling us if there'll be democracy or fascism.

SUCH admiration for the Serbian student movement. They have never stopped protesting and organizing and protesting for over 2 years now.

Not just turning people out onto the streets, but organizing their own slate of candidates to run, doing a cycling tour of Serbia to many smaller cities, and getting the vote out.

THEY DID IT!!!

EDIT: Watch a livestream of them celebrating in the streets. There's been so much bad news. It'll do your heart good to see that sometimes that hard protesting and organizing work has a successful outcome and everyone feels joy!

congrats to serbian sisters and brothers

The admission of defeat came after a record number of voters turned up to cast their ballot on Sunday. Across the country, long lines snaked out of polling stations, with some reporting wait times of up to two hours. By 7pm local time, pollsters and monitors CeSID and Ipsos put the turnout at 67.6%, the highest since the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1992.

The high turnout, along with the estimated 150,000 people who flocked to the students’ final pre-election rally last week in Belgrade, fuelled early speculation that the students may have rallied enough support to bring an end to Vučić’s 12 years in power.

Strudel has adopted a post-ai humane policy for live coding development:

All community members should be treated with respect and kindness. We welcome contributors to the community who are ready to follow this policy as well as our code of conduct.

Principles
* We wish to protect the humanity of our communities and projects, to support the motivation and well-being of all of its contributors and users.
* To this end, contributors and other users of our projects should not have to engage with LLM-generated code and text as part of their community work.
* We recognise that LLM-based scraping and generation of (A)GPL code shared by ourselves and others is of questionable legality. For example, under many juristictions, LLM-generated work does not have a copyright holder and can therefore not be licensed under the (A)GPL.
* A contributor's personal use of LLMs and related technology is their own business, whether for research, analysis, bug discovery or other assistive technology, so long as the output is not included in any contributions to our projects.

Some Firefox users on desktop haven’t received the OneCRL revocations, leaving them vulnerable to the recent eMudhra compromise. [1]

Firefox has an external system called Remote Settings that fetches data which needs to be updated regularly without requiring a full browser update. [2] It is also used for a very crucial purpose, OneCRL for fast certificate revocations/blocklisting.

RME Babyface Pro FS works nicely on Linux. I made some notes.

https://prin.lu/notes/RME_Babyface_Pro_FS.md

I'm confused because this was after I:

• first plugged the interface and got nothing
• then switched the interface into CC mode and got 2chan I/O
• then compiled that new driver for linux for PC mode (snd-usb-babyface-pro), got it working still with 2chan I/O but had to adjust settings in modprobe.d to loose stutter
• then switched it back to CC and got again 2chan I/O
• then opened pavucontrol and messed around and found under Configuration > Babyface Class  Compliant Mode > menu of profiles which also had "Pro mode"

once that was switched on, i got 12 I/O

pfffff....
