Long term, I have my doubts they'll sustain these many releases.
I agree with Calvin. The number of jerks keeps increasing also.
Such a fun remix -- Rodrigo x Roan -- Expectations.
Tonight's movie was Ready or Not: Here I Come (2026).
I didn't think the first movie reached the full potential of its premise -- a satire about incredibly rich evil Satan worshipers that should explode into bloody clouds of fleshy bits. This sequel reaches that full potential!
I loved seeing Weaving and Newton together, they work well as sisters. Elijah Wood was fun to watch.
Ready or Not: Here I Come is a super enjoyable horror comedy.
Rated 8 out of 10.
@mookie
It should at least have the "or are you dancer" option
So tired of seeing the Cloudflare “are you human” check everywhere.

"The last time a single company released 30 movies nationwide was in 2007 when films were more profitable and less expensive."
At least six per year need to have a production budget of at least $50 million each.
Paramount Skydance would pay a penalty of $30 million per missed film.
All this spend is on top of the $6 billion in interest payments that Paramount Skydance is on the hook for based on their current debt.

Finally actually read what the agreement that Paramount Skydance signed up for in order to get Warner Bros. and it is insane that they think this will work.
The need to distribute 156 films over five years (30 per year for the first two years, 32 per year the three years after that).
The average film budget in 2026 was $65 million excluding marketing. That's $10.1 billion for 156 films, almost $2 billion each year.

Some good posters at various #NoKings protest today in this USAToday article https://www.usatoday.com/picture-gallery/news/nation/2026/10/17/no-kings-protest-photo/92302287007/
Dance of the (Heaven) Veils
A beautiful, clear night with hours of starlight and little moonlight. I decided to be ambitious and try a new target.
This is the eastern part of the Veil Nebula, also known as the Cygnus Loop or Caldwell 33. The structure is part of a supernova remnant. The "229min" in the caption refers to the exposure time.
My pareidolia is seeing the outline of a face with a pointed nose, grinning spookily.

There are major account take-over problems happening right now on mastodon instances - all appearances are that the actor is using stolen passwords, probably from malware running on desktops. I've suspended hundreds of compromised accounts over the past 48 hours, but only two on mine.
If you run a mastodon instance, here is a postgres query I use to randomize the passwords of accounts that have been inactive for 6 months or more. It also removes logged in sessions. This doesn't lock people out, just makes them perform a password reset. Yes, I wish I didn't have to do this, but here we are. I hope it helps someone else.

Seems like at least the account back, but no word from Meta on why this happened. This is why they were so smart of @indivisibleteam build out on platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon & their own direct to their users newsletters too - that are not at the whim of giant big tech.
#Meta needs to give exact and full answer of what the Hell just happened on this critical day of action. #Nokings #NoKingsVoteEarly
Facebook & Meta are un-American.

Extraordinary means extremely ordinary.
I decided to finally get off my lazy ass, dust off my blog and write a new post. Where I ramble on about existential dread and how I'm avoiding that. Updating all of you on what I've been doing lately and what some of my plans are.
