Yeah this is so disgusting. Bye. I might check in from time to time to see if they've fixed dark mode and the site is usable again, for now I'm done.

Logging on to Mastodon now:

And no I'm not joining your stupid forum to tell you this.

"Announcement · Oct 20, 08:45 AM

You may have noticed that mastodon.social looks different."

Yes I did in fact notice that it looks like the most disgusting shit I have ever seen.

Where the fuck did dark mode go? I don't want purple. I want black.

Eww, the new layout just kicked on, and this is immediately completely and totally awful

Things that come to my mind when I think of Firefox:

"Google spyware"
"AI slop"
"Tone deaf"

Use Waterfox or Librewolf instead

Oh we are talking about LLMs being conscious and whether they should get rights or not? Fuck everyone who even entertains that thought even remotely. Animal and people rights are all over the place ignored, mistreated and worse. And don’t come at me wrt whataboutism.

AI-Psychosis is too friendly at this stage.

if you are serious about #enshitification and #sovereignty, but you still want to be on old platform "to not use/lose your audience":

1. drop news on inclusive, equitable, open platforms like the #fediverse at least an hour earlier than on older platforms
2. have closed platforms link to the news on the open platforms
3. give open platforms the same attention and respect of closed platforms

Otherwise your #fediverse presence is not authentic, is just fake

a tumblr post for you

Still impressed with companies that understand their product and respect their community.

I recently completed level 11, 000 of Candy Crush. Apparently this puts me in the global top 1% of players. I'm elite. I have never been more ashamed of an achievement.

@baldur "If you haven't tried it, how can you know" is one of those takes that make me reconsider the sanity of the humanity.

Deducing something is bad before trying is one of the main purposes of the brain.

"AI" generated code is everywhere. It's impossible to avoid. We can see it. The only thing using the tools would accomplish is expose us to a bunch of cognitive hazards that come with chatbot bullshit.

Every time I see a vibe coder say something along the lines of "if you haven't used these tools over the past five minutes, you don't know what they're capable of, because everything's different now!" I get a little bit perplexed.

You do know that we can see the output without using it ourselves, right? Some of us are still reviewing pull requests and reading through code repositories, y’know?

"Why is everything so round?

We’re headed towards more roundness to invite a friendlier brand tone, and to make Mastodon feel more native within modern browsers (most of which have adopted a rounded aesthetic)."

Ugh, I cannot wait for this hideous "make everything round" trend to die. Corners are meant to be square. Rounding them means you either pull everything away from them and waste space, or just let things be cut off which looks weird.

Square is better.

whenever I doubt my professional future I think of this!

you cannot create a community around something nobody made.

Seeing everyone vibe code their "photoshop killer" or "ableton killer" when free and open source perfectly cromulent alternatives have already existed for years gave me one of several realisations:

The software itself isn't the solution. You need to have a userbase and supportive community around your software/tool to see any level of success. And these one-shot attempts just ain't it.
