In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

Trump said he had to takeover Greenland to keep China and Russia out.

And then he snuck Russia onto the North Slope.

Literally just ... inviting them in.

In Venezuela I found people hoping for change but shocked and surprised by the opacity and greed of the Trump administration. The new system, one economist told me, is not exactly colonial, but rather a "coalition of two kleptocracies"

€20.5M are now available to support journalism, media pluralism and media literacy across Europe.

The new calls will support journalism partnerships, cross border collaboration between news organisations, innovative business models, and local and public interest media.

Vasemmistoryhmä esitti Venäjän turkiskaupan pitämistä pakotteiden piirissä.

Äärioikeisto yritti estää äänestyksen nousemalla seisomaan (suulliset esitykset kumoutuvat jos 39 edustajaa vastustaa nousemalla). Lopulta heistä seisoi 37 ja sali äänesti suurella enemmistöllä Venäjän sanktioiden puolesta.

European politicians and institutions remaining active in Twitter at this point is pretty much the same thing as if they were active in media and communication channels the KGB were running openly during the Cold War.

I'm actually a bit upset about this. 🙁

@RosannaSibora , @_elena and I, and a whole coalition of open source orgs were hoping to organize a track at #FOSDEM27 about Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging (DEIB) in #FOSS.

It got rejected.
