Ordered the new #JHS #Pherb from Sweetwater, looking forward to playing around with it!

How long after rain until the wild mushrooms start popping up? Might have to take a couple of tours around the property to known locations and record some data points 😁

Nice eathshine on the Moon this morning 😎

Glad today is #Friday, it's been a week. I hope you all have a wonderful #weekend kickoff!

A fine day for foul temper. . .

Just got done watching the NHK highlights of days 13 and 14 of the September Grand Sumo tournament - there have been some really good bouts and a few upsets. Looking forward to catching up on the final day tomorrow, no spoilers please! #GrandSumo #sumo

Upon reading this article from 404 this morning, I have two thoughts:

1. Send up some Penicillium roqueforti to colonize the moon-cheese

2. Send up some moss/lichen and tardigrades and see what happens (SUPER tardigrades)

Repaired our countertop ice maker today with less than a dollar worth of parts. It's a commodity unit from Costco, meant to be used until it breaks and then buy a new one. It was leaking water from somewhere, and I was *really* hoping it wasn't the holding tank. Took the cover off and sure enough it was the tube that runs from the pump up to the freezer chamber part. Looked like a nicked artery when the pump cycled. Anyway, wife picked me up some polyethylene tubing, and with some help from the youngest (tiny hands for the win!), we replaced the nasty broken soft tube with a section of the new tubing. Thanks to some #teamwork, it's back to 100%! #FixTheWorld #fixing

Whoa! Just got an e-mail from our local ag extension (UC Davis) that because I signed up for something at the county fair, I got a free GeoBin composting unit provided by CalRecycle! Very excited to pick it up and get it going, although keeping the dogs out of it might be a chore :D

As much as I don't like Miracle-Gro (for reasons? Better, less mass manufactured options out there?), we did pick up some of their water soluble fertilizer today because it was on such deep discount on the clearance rack. The boxes had gotten wet, but the product inside was fine. Hopefully this will give our garden the mid-late season boost it needs to keep trucking til the end of the growing season. #gardening #plants

So the Metro PD are charging the assaultee with assault? That's rich. Not unexpected, though, they had to come up with some claim for the detention. The National Guard have no authority to arrest so it shouldn't be resisting arrest. #law #dc #nationalguard

I feel like the unions are missing the forest for the trees on this one. . . have they never worked around livestock? The 24/7 aspect is part & parcel to dealing with animals, and nobody in ag gets paid 24/7 except the corporate heads. #ag #goats #farming

I would love to purchase produce that I knew was grown (somewhat) locally. The issue isn't only comms between growers and gov't, food labeling in stores could be greatly improved. At this point, my only option for getting produce guaranteed to be grown in the central valley is a weekend farmer's market about an hour-and-a-half away. (Yes, slowly working on being more food independent, too). Factory/corporate farms FTMFL, yo. #produce #farming #cyclospora

Well, after losing a goat a couple of weeks back to then-unknown maladies I now have the honor of taking another one to get put down due to a terrible bacterial disease called Johne's (yo-knees). The rest of the herd tested negative, thankfully. We'll test them again in 18 months or so. Doesn't make tomorrow any easier. I know I could take care of it myself a lot cheaper, as I've had to in the past, but it also seems rather undignified for critters that are more pets than stock. Fly among the stars, Rocket. #goats #goat

This is some first rule of Fight Club stuff right here.

So far, 100% survival rate!

I can't tell if I'm on the edge of a panic attack or if I just overused a muscle playing disc golf yesterday. . . My brain seems fine, but the part of my midsection where anxiety manifests has been freaking out all day. I'm guessing since my right pec is a little tender it's the disc golf. I hope.

Also, my Innova Tern is really fun to throw. It's a tie-dye pattern, which makes watching it fly awesome, and it's easy to find in the bushes where I inevitably end up 😂

What a wonderful morning for an air bath out on the deck. The birds are all singing/calling, the ducks are paddling around in the pond, the bullfrogs are. . .making whatever noise that is.
