Every one of these neo-nazi fucks in EVERY country where a right-wing exists are inextricably linked with A) violent goonsquads and B) the Republican Party of the United States and its neo-nazi techbro sponsors because they are ALL members of a Fascist International. This👇 is the START of how you MEANINGFULLY deal with them.

@gerrymcgovern They mean it, and quite earnestly 😞

Oh, those students, those beautiful students ...

After the first round of the Brazilian presidential election ... a mood of dismay swept Brazil’s left.

"Then, on the night after the election, students from the Fluminense Federal University took to the streets of Niterói, a city of 480,000 across Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro."

"Two days later, another student protest took over downtown Rio."

"She said addressing climate change can’t mean that Global South countries are exploited for the raw materials that are required for renewable technologies. “We reject all false solutions, including carbon offset and storage, nuclear energy, geoengineering and green or blue colonialism.

“We reject the dispossession of the land and ocean because of developed states need for transition … this is not just and equitable.”

Just in case you wanna boost the article.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell Those are related, no? The fact that they are so diminished means the mining that does happen is going to be that much more invasive and toxic, by "necessity".

@gerrymcgovern

@gerrymcgovern

YouTube has an archive Dr Meadows’ lectures. The second one in the series has her covering or mentioning, and in brief planetary limits, where she specifically points to limited resources.

It’s amazing to me that people who talk about the global economy have completely lost sight of that book. Pointing out resource exhaustion is not big oil misinformation, unless people want to argue that she was on their payroll

@gerrymcgovern
The only thing AI Hubs drive, is campaign contributions and air pollution

"I got your high tech development, -right here-".

@gerrymcgovern

If you can even call it a ray of sunshine in this area, the copper reserves are already gone. Unfortunately, that means that the mining process becomes that much more lethally toxic.

There is simply not the copper to do that. It doesn’t exist to do this transition. It doesn’t exist to do the transition and have the rest of the economy that relies on copper all the other products.

Something will give

Copper: a sustainable material shaping a sustainable future

Copper’s natural properties-from its durability to high conductivity-make it the material of choice for the green transition, contributing to solutions for modern climate challenges.

They lie like an AI. Copper is one of the most environmentally damaging metals to mine.

We must mine more copper in next 25 years than in previous 10,000

The Green Transition is fake.

Green Sacrifice Zones are real

An eloquent analysis of the origins of human speech suggests that social cohesion, not conflict, drove our use of words

@joltrast @gerrymcgovern The reason is likely more pragmatic, in that most hot/arid areas are either poor or politically to the right, making the residents less likely to object to the actions of megacorporations.

@gerrymcgovern I can't not see that the agenda is to build these monstrosities, starting in hot, arid areas first and working back. Making as many areas as possible uninhabitable. They are resource vampires.

@gerrymcgovern Apparently you don't have to be a Republican to be a fool. These Democratic leaders seem to be sheltering in cave for considerable time. Who benefits from the high-tech aspirations? META, GOOGLE, MUSK, MICROSLOP cs.

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro.
It's a loss for Trump.
For Musk.
For Milei.
For Netanyahu.
For Farage.
For Meta and Zuckerberg.
For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters.
And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

@gerrymcgovern there's no plan for more hate and greed, only death and decay.

Hot off the press, and no, I don’t usually click on or promote Politico articles, but... good on Mayes. We need more like her.
"Mayes has also challenged utilities’ plans to raise electricity rates, saying tech companies should cover the costs of their power consumption….”

“I would call on the industry to have some common sense and some humanity, quite frankly,” Mayes said.

Not in this article: she’s also suing Open AI for violating AZ law around safety
