Google illegally chopping down a massive forest in Finland and even removing the topsoil so nothing can grow again.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/ng-interactive/2026/oct/22/finland-google-felling-trees-datacentre

Makes sense. If copyright no longer applies to big corporations, as LLMs have shown, then why should any other regulation?

I'm not sure an appropriate fine is even possible for this. And you can't put that forest back.

I predict we'll be having angry people burning down datacenters in the next couple years.

En «Una vida en viñetas», revelo cómo volví a crear personajes e historias en condiciones. Pero falta algo, ¿no os parece?

“There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability · Elias Taylor”

https://eliastaylor.com/noexploit/

> One really amusing thing in common with most of these "PoC"s is that they lean on "LFI", or local-file-inclusion, to make the vulnerability. In non-php terms, their exploit chain requires the server to already have a severe code-level vulnerability.

I now have permission to share something I hoped would be revealed with much more fanfare.

I spent more than 3 years as one of the writers of #MassEffect4

It was one of the greatest privileges & GLORIOUS challenges of my life. I smiled every day. I worked HARD for the fans, every day.

So when I say I am devastated by the end of #MassEffect I REALLY mean it. I don’t know how to express how gutted I truly am.

Todo el mundo:
¡Ay, que ha cerrado el estudio de KOTOR (2003), Mass Effect (2007) y Dragon Age (2009)!

Nadie:

ugh. the patch is massive 🫩 the bug is based on causing an OOM condition and no-one ever accused the php interpreter of being neatly and elegantly architected, so the fix touches everything 🫩 the bugs go back many years but backporting the fix to all those versions is wildly impractical 🫩

the exploit was developed with AI assistance but it was based on existing human research, including by my old nemesis Stefan Esser. I don't remember why he's my nemesis, I assume we got into a stupid twitter argument over nothing like 16 years ago

Finally we have created the random number "4" from the famous XKCD strip "do not just make your random number 4"
