Tuesday #running around the Wear through Durham, the wind and rain didn't materialize leaving a glorious Autumn morning, head torch off heading into Durham, dodging muddy patches wet leaves and a few small branches.

Wellies at dawn and a tree in the middle of the river to avoid. Our normal heads pace piece against a decent flow this morning. Eight degrees so not cold and it stayed dry. A few college boats to over take and warn about the hazard right in front of them.
Yesterday I had a day off to try and let the new boy settle in.

A slow parkrun at Sedgefield, caught yapping in a big group from Coxhoe on the run there to celebrate the 70th birthday of Benadette one of our run leaders and a lovely person. The location was picked as she was born in Hardwick hall 70 years ago yesterday.

Friday #sculling on the Wear. The same outing plan as Tuesday but with added wind and rain. Conditions thankfully eased as we put the boat on the water to just wet rather than torrential but it returned as we put the boat back in the boathouse. Welcome to year round rowing, but still better than an erg.

Tuesday #sculling on the Wear. Warmup then a split heads pace piece with some traffic with a number of fours and an eight out from various colleges, always fun in the dark. Warm and a little wet, too dark to see much

Yep. Got it in one;+)
Sunday long run with Coxhoe on the run. A few people are working up to a half so the planned run was 9miles plus my run up and another 3km back not on this activity. Sunny but cool with a few misty showers blowing through. Too hot for a jacket, too cold without byt a lovely run with plenty of hills.

Saturday #scullimg on the Wear, a quiet morning as a lot of boats were off to Tyne, we are saving that pleasure until Rutherford. Square blades all the way this morning focusing on balance, solid progress. A lot of Herons around along with a kingfisher. Sadly one of last years cygnets seem to have died in the last few days, still floating in the pool below the cathedral.

Very warm with a very slight drizzle but not enough to get really wet. Very odd weather for October. Heavy legs especially near the end. A few other regular Tuesday runners and a very busy rowing club.

Righto everyone! FreeCAD Microwave Workbench 0.0.3 is finally out of the door.
The headliner: Palace (frequency-domain FEM on gmsh tetrahedrons) is now sitting right on the bench beside openEMS.
You draw and mark up your part once, and throw two completely different solvers at it. Plus run history: every solve is kept in the project tree with its settings - no overwriting previous runs. 1/3
Monday #sculling session on the Wear. An easy outing focused on balance and keeping the pressure on through the stroke. Cold but dry, the river was quite busy, the cold dark mornings haven't put the students off yet.

It’s sad. There’s a good chance today will be the last time I see Dave.
Lately, life has reminded me how fragile it all is. I spend so much time working and planning what’s next that I forget to appreciate what’s happening now.
I need to get better at that. None of us knows how long we’ve got.
Coxhoe trail run on a cool sunny Sunday morning, no official time yet but close to last year's and under my 50min target. No real training this year but generally felt good on the perfect conditions. I had to walk just after the first bank in the plantation to get my heart rate under control but pretty happy overall. Next year I go up and age category and plan to train for this as it's also a solid base for heads training.

Tuesday run around Durham, dodging some students heading out for morning activities and some returning home from late night activities.
My watch said rest but I opted for an easy run around Cathedral green and along the race course. Cool and dry.

No rest something something. Monday #sculling on the Wear, a warm fine morning. University is back and we were joined by a couple of eights a four and earlier by a mad singler in the dark. A slight delay in getting on the water changed the plan to an easier steady session, warmup, Durham heads piece at 70% then counting strokes and in, the counting strokes was looking really strong until we caught the weed which is normally dieing back by October.

After boat unloading this morning, Sunday easy run with Coxhoe on the run, around the quarry on a cool but dry morning. A bigger group this morning with eighteen runners across both groups. Good to catch up after a couple of weeks away. Next week it's Coxhoe trail run.
