#WritersCoffeeClub 24/10: What is currently provisional in your workflow/work?

A: Oh, just about everything. My energy is zapped after putting out the book.

Work on stories for submissions?

Revise novel manuscript?

Shoot more video to promote this book?

Just do art because it’s not words?

I mostly want to hibernate. 🫠

Oh, hey. I have an ebook of my art too. “Bless This Art House” is 80 pages of visual obsession with homes.

Polaroids, collages, sketches, objects — plus reproductions of two hand-made books.

It’s available on its own or in a bundle with the “What A Charming House” ebook.

It’s always a pleasant surprise to open a book and find you’ve marked it with something from a fellow Fedi artist.

Hey, #InfoSec folks. Is there a browser extension or some other way to find out if a site is using the patched php?

Because that would be awesome.

#WritersCoffeeClub Oct 23 — How do you make sure you deliver on your writerly promises?

I just keep hearing the song “Promises, Promises” by Naked Eyes.

Probably because I can’t think how this applies to my writing. I never think about promise and fulfillment.

Except that I ship my books out within two days — which I keep because it’s an actual action, a thing I can do, when there’s so little I can control now about the book.

I decided that to make a garden-filled postcard calendar of my handprinted linocut plants and pollinators! All our lovely little insects friends - native bees, butterflies, flower flies, moths and beetles with flowers, blossoms, grasses, leaves and petals.

Perfect size for a little desk calendar and designed so you can trim the grid off and enjoy the art once the months are through!

Off topic, but the naming of #neurodivergent types is inconsistent:

#Synesthesia gets Greek

#Autism gets Latin

#ADHD gets an English initialism of exactly what’s wrong with you.*

*And none of what’s right.

Boosting myself because I put way too much work into making this, which is ANYTHING but a straight unboxing video.

#WritersCoffeeClub 22: Share a work you found really challenging to read.

Oh, that’s choosing from a big list. Virginia Woolf’s “To the Lighthouse”? Faulkner’s “Go Down, Moses”?

I will just say 90% of Russian novels because of the names. I struggle with names in real life, so characters having different names in different contexts is an unnecessary torture for me.

The guy who played Michael Stipe in my dream last night was not well cast. It takes more than a bald head.

And, yes, I have
prosopagnosia, but even I could tell.

And #21 is Moon. Le Petit Chat has their own moon to take care of.

#WritersCoffeeClub 10/21: "How do you make your works approachable?"

The work itself? I don’t know that it occurs to me. Some folks will find it approachable. Some won’t.

In terms of how I present it to the world, because that’s the real approach (marketing), I try to make it funny, human, and a bit nuts. Which I think reflects the stories, at least aspects of them.
