If you are lucky enough to have #solitarybees in your garden - LOOK AFTER THEM!

They build small solitary nests in cavities in the ground/timber/walls, fly for only a few weeks, don’t swarm and are superb #pollinators.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today.

Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man. Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.

Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too.

Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course.

In the great news from #Brazil, don't sleep on this Reuters investigation which found that Darren Beattie, a racist activist who was fired during the first Trump administration but now works at the State Dept, directly worked to harm Brazil in the hopes that doing so would help fascist candidate Flavio Bolsonaro.

Beattie and another top staffer met with Eduardo Bolsonaro privately to plot strategy. Soon came a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods. Total election interference. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/inside-trump-administration-campaign-return-brazils-bolsonaro-clan-power-2026-10-24/

"but where are the Hay Bale updates?" you ask

here is the bravest boi!

#HayBale

in a client Teams meeting with my camera off and Hay Bale was sniffing at me for treats so i said "you're from the streets so you've never had to use Teams but i am actually working right now"

and the meeting suddenly went really quiet and i had to apologise for not going on mute and also explain that i was talking to a foster cat and not being incredibly rude to a housemate.

“A new Yalta without [America’s European] allies would certify the death of the West as we know it.

The Europeans should be very concerned, as they too are on the chopping board in this dangerous ménage à trois. A backroom deal over Kyiv’s head would also spell the end of the transatlantic relationship”

Bon Chocolatiers is one of a handful of world class chocolatiers in Ireland and they’ve had some brutal luck recently with a fire in the Tullamore unit next to theirs.

I appreciate their chocolates but also that they are based in the midlands where local jobs aren’t easy to come by.

If you can spare a few quid to help them rebuild, please do. Chocolate may be a luxury but local industry is not.

It’s the time of year when I’m trying to find Irish companies to buy from for holiday gifting.

I’m probably not alone. Google advertising has made it almost impossible to find anything besides temu and Amazon.

Open to proposals for a good hashtag where we can all share our Irish-based faves (or our own Irish-based businesses).
