If you didn’t know #Docker is weird. This is a good introduction to the weirdness of containers started by Docker.

Oopsies! “Seemingly as an accident, overnight several new Linux kernel vulnerability reports were posted to the public Linux kernel mailing list rather than the private security mailing list. The vulnerabilities have yet to be patched on mainline but at least in some cases there are patches undergoing testing or queued in "-next" branches. The CVSS scores are as high as 9.0.”

Looks like #China is clamping down on open-weight #AI and #LLM models being exported. Will probably impact Qwen, Deepseek, Kiki, etc

This will be a big relief for Google, Anthropic, OpenAI etc

@bryan apparently a policy change to prefer the LTS version. 3.5 is LTS, 3.6 isn’t.

Upgrading openssl@3, 3.6.5 -> 3.5.9, 🤔

TP-Link will do anything to sell more routers in the US except provide timely and constant updates to software. They are not unique in this respect. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyway, I think I need to buy a new compact travel router… which TP-Link (or other brand) do people recommend? Would be nice if I could just install dd-wrt or some other kind of 3rd-party open-source.

For the record: my healthcare premiums have only gotten more expensive over the last two years so this letter makes zero sense. If something was fixed why is it more expensive? Why is the maximum out-of-pocket more every year? Bah!

I guess I’m one of the lucky 950k people? Well two of us since it seems they give $500 per person on policy.

Got back from Korea and I got a check for $1k from the Treasury. Weird I should get this right now… 🤔

HUGE thanks to star blogger and tech journalist John Gruber, for his endorsement of the mighty Inner Hive!
The Inner Hive gets a better review than the iPhone 18 Pro, and it's a fraction of the price!

Hey Everyone,
This is just a reminder that Friday is International #ButtholeDay. Don't forget to celebrate in whatever manner brings joy to your heart.

you know, I was planning to return the Neo after writing this blog post but I never did. I'm typing on it right now. I have a machine with 6x the memory in the other room but I just adore this anemic lil doodad 🥺 https://samhenri.gold/blog/20260312-this-is-not-the-computer-for-you/

Yeah we don’t need this in #StarTrek or #DoctorWho. 👎🏻

i think you'll all be well pleased with #GoToSocial v0.23.0 when it comes out, imagine working search... after all these years... 🧓

Quite a few people have sent me the "Passkeys are a trap. Do not use them." post on Substack.

The post recommends people abandon passkeys and stick to passwords + TOTP, citing what appears to be concerns with attestation as the primary reason.

I’ve written a rebuttal as this is really dangerous advice and it's based on some incorrect technical claims.

Really love how my Credit Union in California blocks its website from Korea and Japan. 🫤

I’m guessing the block is everywhere outside the US. Pathetic that I need my own VPN to get into my account.
