I could post photos post storm, broken trees and overflowing rivers, but you can see all that on the news, so instead... here's some uplifting colourful sunrises instead.

@dangillmor No, I don't remember that. "Google" is not and has never been a person and we do ourselves and humans in general a disservice by attributing to "it" goals or ethics. There are *people* who own and control the machine name "Google" and they have names and addresses.

Juxtaposition update #627:

• Mention other users: Use you can now @ mention in posts like many other platforms using a user's PNID!
• Text styling: Posts can now use a simplified version of markdown (bold, italic, strikethrough, and code)

“It’s a poor worksman who blames his tools” has always been complete nonsense. No-one complains about imperfect tools faster and louder than a master. A master will yank a cheap or damaged tool out of your hand and yell at you for not blaming it yet

Cheap, lousy tools come from middle managers who don’t know how to do your job. Blame the hell out of poor tools and those who demand you use them

Diesmal mit allen besonderen Gruenden.

How do you like "Cybersecurity Awareness month" so far?

The more people use AI transcription and call recording features, the more often I have to explain the same procedures over and over again, despite all of them being explained in the documentation.

Hmm, which should be preferred?

new Promise((resolve) => { object.method(resolve); }).then(...)

or

class {
method(){
return new Promise((resolve) => (...));
}
}

object.method().then(...)

In today's day and age, Docusign literally sending "marketing" emails as "CEO, Docusign" and starting the body with

"Dear <name>,
As the CEO of Docusign..."

must be the most braindead thing I've seen in a while.

Air rippled on the desert road, swaying and jittering as though a dance-party button had been pressed

The traveler approached the bus-station, oddly bustling with people from everywhere.

At the ticket booth a duck dozed beside the service bell on the only counter.

As the traveler reached to ring it, the duck pecked at their hand.

"Bus is free, bud," came a voice, "Though donations are welcome."

"What for..?"

"The children, who else?"

Manchmal frag ich mich.

Und weiss dann auch keine Antwort.
