Facing consequences.

OMG
Browsing & Exporting from you raw files directly to Immich is absolutely seamless.
🔥

I was so on the fence about using Immich, and having a seamless pipe between my RAW and Jpegs prints.

All solved!

Took me 60 seconds to hook immich.

AMAZEBALLS!!!

#photography

A bit in shock. Just tried Rapid Raw.
It’s astonishingly well put together.

The integration with immich had me sold.

Well worth a look.

Spoke too soon

#Apple #Mac

Seems to escaped from its Ai fugue state.

Falling back in love with Color Grading.

A year of pure photography gave me the urge to work at this again.

It is unbearably slow at finding things I used to reach with ease. All those server farms, grinding away to find a bookmark in want to go to, or search Google. It makes zero sense. It doesn’t even have a keyboard shortcut to invoke the listening Siri.

.🤷🏼‍♂️

#Apple’s reinvention of the beachball is going splendidly.

highly recommend https://vorssaint.com, if you want to get on with you life, while Siri is thinking about things….

Death, by one handed backhand. Glorious.

Air Drop - 1940’s style.

How the world ends:
Plonked in front of a -TV, watching endlessly looping Ai movies. No one else around.

Humans, we are better than this.

@blabberlicious Ha! So... the code is copyrighted, but they haven't copied it (UNLESS Adobe can show that Claude or whichever AI was used has reused chunks of it).

The name "Photoshop" and probably the names of specific tools within it will be trademarks.

The question is whether the user interface can be copyrighted. The answer, broadly is not just based on look and feel. But Icons, cursors, default brush sets, presets, LUTs, gradients, help text, sample files and camera colour profiles are each copyrightable and easy to prove. If any were bundled, this is Adobe’s cleanest copyright claim.

Apple v Microsoft gives graphical interfaces only thin protection once functional and standard elements are filtered out. The decisive case is probably Google v Oracle (2021), which held that reimplementing an interface so users can carry over skills they already have is fair use.

BUT... there is a huge asymmetry of resources here. Adobe could sue (seperately for each product!) and bury ArtCraft under a mountain of discovery demands. They might not win, but it's enough to kill off an amateur project.

@ianbetteridge
Interested to know what your take on the ArtCraft Adobe blitzkrieg. Is there some strange hole in US patent law that means Adobe are powerless to jump on them?

It seems that they've made absolutely no attempt to disguise their clonery.

Not a fanboy of Adobe at all. More worried for smaller developers who might see their hard work sucked into a vortex.

So, My Tech Headline:
Will Vibe coded reverse engineering stop Adobe from burying the authours under a mountain of litigation?
