Last night's City Council meeting focused on preparations for this winter's El Niño event, forecast to be the largest in decades.
The presentations covered preparedness and response handled by the county Office of Emergency Services (OES), the lead agency in response to flooding, wildfires, earthquakes, and other emergencies. OES runs the VC Alert system and vcemergency.com website that provide residents with real-time official updates; it also coordinates responses regionally among all local governments, including the City of Thousand Oaks.
Staff also spoke about city measures, especially by the Public Works Department, that occur before, during, and after any storm. Public Works also offers free pre-filled sandbags at the Municipal Service Center, 1993 Rancho Conejo Blvd.
Most important of all, Council and the public also heard about preparation measures residents can take ahead of heavy rain and other emergencies.
With this weekend's rains likely to be the start of a very wet winter season, last night's meeting was a timely reminder of what we must do so that the county, the city, and residents can be prepared and stay safe.

Looking for recommendations of good #VR puzzle games - something like "the room VR". It's OK if games are a but scary, but they don't have to be. Doesn't matter when the game was released, old games are fine.
Please share your best picks!
CC @isotopp who I remember was into such things some time ago.
Also, please boost for reach 🙏 :boostRequest:
FEZZIK: Why are you wearing a mask? Were you burned by acid or something like that?
MAN IN BLACK: Oh no, it's just they're terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.
If you appreciate a video on PeerTube, try looking for a "Support" button below the video. If the video has one, clicking the Support button will take you to information about how you can tip or donate to the maker of the video. (On mobile the Support button may just be an icon of a hand with a heart above it.)
If you're a video creator, you can add a Support button by filling in the "Support button" section on your video's management page.
A long time ago I shared that I was working on a book based on my imaginary friends from an old TTRPG campaign. I've shared some of what I've written before but then I got sidetracked by worldbuilding and not so much with the writing.
I've decided I'm going to publish it as a serialized web novel to encourage me to keep writing on it.
I've posted the first chapter! It's short and you may have read a version of it before, but I'd appreciate if you'd stop by and give it a rating or leave a comment. You'll help me find an audience and it'd mean a lot to me.

Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.
Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye?
Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?
Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe.
Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them — little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
Our next training webinar is an introduction to BT Mail. BT Mail is our new email program for Blazie Technologies products. It supports having more than one email account, accessing folders, creating signatures, working with attachments and more. You can even read and write emails in literary Braille and nearly everything works in Blazie mode. The only time you’ll need to open the desktop is when you’re setting up your email account.
Learn how to set up your email account, check your inbox, compose and reply to emails and more.

Today's my birthday.
If you back this project on my birthday I'll likely twirl. You won't see this, but bask in the possibility.
(If you back at the full trilogy level, I *will* twirl. We call that certainty)
3 days to go.
