I am sure plenty resent Big AI companies calling themselves 'labs'.

So was I, until I realised this was as in meth, not research.

The Boots Theory of Software Architecture

"They're so caught up running the Red Queen's race that there's seemingly little opportunity to turn things around and invest in improving their value stream. Over the long term they'll end up spending more time and effort on dealing with the problems with their architecture than someone with a good architecture — and they still won't have a good architecture."

I'm tired of clueless vi-haters regurgitating claim vi has two modes, one which beeps and one which destroys input. THOSE ARE THE SAME MODE.

Pro tip: If you're using AI to message someone and trying to make it personal, as if you had written it, don't. Just don't.

That you couldn't be bothered to write it tells the reader how much you actually care. Put some effort into what you do. The absence of care is a negative differentiator.

I apologize for nothing.

✅ Got my brand new tow bar installed. Limit: 1000 kg. Video coming soon.

#USpol can I assume that everyone here has heard that in UK 'trump' is another word for 'fart'?

It just occurred to me I wrote a tiny bytecode VM years ago and I could probably convert the code to run on #Forth hardware.

Has any one experience or suggestions about this, please? #retroComputing

The NEC V20 has an interesting undocumented opcode 0x63.

What does it do, you might ask?

It reads memory and then does nothing with it.

This is a zoom chat I attended in 2022 with Chuck Moore the inventor of the Forth programming language.

Forth had only recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The chat was arranged by Peter and @honuk and the Forth2020 group on Facebook.

Just came across the original 'Structured Procrastination' article. There are many here who might find it interesting and/or useful.
