we spent the last 30 years developing better and faster methods of antialiasing, but now with approaches like """hd-2d""", we're finally adding new techniques for proaliasing

Happy birthday to Malka Older! Celebrate the date on an episode of Eating the Fantastic, where you'll learn about the pachinko parlor which helped give birth to her science fictional universe, her secrets when it comes to writing action scenes — and more. https://www.scottedelman.com/2019/04/05/bond-over-bing-bread-with-malka-older-in-episode-92-of-eating-the-fantastic/

The Quarry was a lot of fun! I spent this playthrough trying To Win, and I immediately started another one where I plan to maximize chaos.

I'm sitting here now trying to figure out what's the difference between it and Detroit: Become Human, since they are both essentially high-fidelity Telltale games with limited gameplay elements, but I liked one and felt like the other was tedious. The best I've got is that D:BH took itself very seriously and tried to force the player to choose between Serious Moral Issues (while not executing that very well imo), while The Quarry is like watching a fun B horror movie where I get to influence the plot. The Quarry could use a little of the Quantic Dream treatment - despite being released two years after D:BH, the character modeling/animation is noticeably less polished.

The writing was on point, which is a must in a game that's like 60% cutscene. It was fun getting to choose which snappy comeback to use, whether the fleeing character should trip and fall, etc.

If you've ever shouted "what are you thinking‽" at a character in a horror movie, you might enjoy The Quarry.

Wtf. Yet another arsehole Tesla thing.

I'm waiting outside a supermarket and there's two parked and locked Tesla cars just continuously making dumb loud noises. Is this a new thing to make sure people don't linger there?

Edit: apparently it's something called "halloween mode"

Edit2: it actively monitors the surrounding public space and reacts to people. This should (is?) be illegal.

Edit3: the monitoring should be illegal. The sounds itself should be dealt with by common decency.

There’s a saying of evil men: always accuse others of doing what you are doing.

Hello! I've made my very first game. It's a short game about a botanist banished to the moon for attempting to create sentient plant life, crafted in Bitsy.

Thanks and enjoy!

I am a sucker for box-pushing puzzle games, and WOIM was a cute and short 5-6h game that didn't overstay its welcome.

It does a good job of introducing mechanics (scissors to split into multiple worms, boulders to push onto buttons, eggs that can't be dropped, flowers that have to be held in place, and water that can push both water and eggs) and then ramping up their complexity and layering them all together. There's also a couple of good remix levels and a reprise. I feel like more could have been done with the overworld puzzles, but maybe I'm spoiled by expectations from things like Stephen's Sausage Roll or Pipe Push Paradise.

If I had puzzle design critiques, it's that some of the puzzles are "loose" (I had a hard time predicting some interactions, especially flowers colliding with each other), but a lot of my puzzle solving is less solve it in my head and execute, and more of a messy fumble around until I understand the constraints and then see how I can ease/stumble myself into a solution from there. I think this is a good fit for that, but I wonder if folks who approach puzzle games differently would be more frustrated.

Also, in the category of worm-based box-pushing puzzle games, as much as I enjoyed WOIM, it still takes second place to nuworm: https://cubestudio.itch.io/nuworm, which is both free and has incredible puzzle design.

hey, Sword of the Sea looks great 👀

Just once it would be good to come to an awareness of ourselves and not find it all about to be set on fire.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I got was that I (an extremely white guy) should listen to voices not like mine. This has helped me a lot in life.
