In case anyone needed another reason not to rely on Facebook for your business. If you aren't logged in, Facebook lets you see about a screen's-worth of the page before you're locked out with an un-dismissable pop-up.
My dog just made a compelling argument for going for a walk even though it's dark and raining.
She was standing next to my chair and giving her "I need something" pant.
I said "Do you want food?"
She stood expressionless.
I said "But it's *raining!*"
She did a circle dance.
I said "Are you sure?"
She came up and put her nose close to my face.
So I guess we're going for a walk in the dark rain.
Moist my eyes? But I hardly know me.
Was awoken by God Groupies knocking on my door at 10am on a Saturday, *and* the 3D print I'd started last night failed because it's not hot enough same the printer's chamber heater couldn't keep up.
Fuck, I hate organised religion and the methods used to keep its members alienated from the rest of us. Religion should be a personal thing, keep it in your pants unless you've got permission to get more intimate.
Also I may need to look into adding extra insulation to the printer.

The title of this article is extremely misleading
"A First Nation community in Canada is using a data center to preserve its heritage"
What the author refers to as a "data center" is
- "[a]bout the size of a single-car garage"
- in the hands of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory
- not owned by a big tech company
- NOT used for LLM training.
That's not a data center. It's a server room.

3D Printer: I've spent an hour and a half on this print and I'm on layer 13 out of 15
Also 3D Printer: I'm 20% done
Me: I think you've calculated wrong.
"Fine, I'll do it myself."
--Me, whenever I want to get a gadget to make life a little easier but discover that all the commercially available products are locked-down spy devices that you pay for but never actually own.
At this point I barely ever bother to even look to see what products are available.

"Most ants aren't giant. That's why giant ants are called 'giant ants.'"
🤣
Yep, Mage Tank is now my current book series, full on until I finish it.
Aaand I didn't account for the expansion when heated. 🤦 In my defense, I'm not really all that familiar with the thermal expansion properties of ~80µm of toilet paper. That does seem like it would be some exceptionally niche knowledge to have. Which, I guess, I kinda do now, a bit. A little bit. I'll probably forget by the morning.
It pushed up against the toolhead's fan duct, so I took it off and sanded it down. It still pushes against it a bit but it doesn't seem to be doing anything too bad. So now I have a new pre-printing process:
1. home
2. inverted bed level
3. z-tilt
4. z-home
5. bed mesh
6. print
I also peeled apart the plys of some toilet paper to use as shims. Even as a single ply, their effect is enormous at this scale, too much so instead of valleys, I now have peaks, but they're smaller.

Alright! I've got my bed deviation down to 60µm. Annoyingly I discovered that even light pressure on the front or back would cause the bed to get angled in that direction and stay there until changed. The default rough bed alignment of ramming the bed into the base of the machine not only took too long, but didn't produce a great result. When the toolhead is tucked away against the poop chute, there was almost enough clearance to ram the bed into the *top* of the rails.

Oh, and "Samsong"
Oh, and I did *not* add the circle, that was in the product listing too.
In case anyone's interested, this is the product this picture accompanied. A width-adjustable rack that I doubt is strong enough to hold a microwave.
Mmhmm, yes, yes, I see. That's very informative.
The 40s were an odd time to be a cartoon duck.

The job of "influencer" just absolutely shouldn't be a thing. Either go full on into marketing or get a real job.

(and, yes, I stand by the implication that marketing isn't a real job, it's just mild psychological warfare)
