Typical July weather here at the moment.

If going to a GAA hurling game has been on your bucket list then you've a great chance next weekend 4/5th July. Two games in Croke Park, two semi finals so should be brilliant matches.
Tickets are still available for both on Tickermaster.

Your chance to watch the best game on earth

TFI Local Link Kildare South #Dublin in #Ireland has introduced contactless payments, allowing passengers to pay for single journeys using debit or credit cards, as well as mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The move is part of the National #Transport Authority’s nationwide rollout of contactless ticketing across TFI Local Link services. Following earlier introductions in Cavan, Monaghan and other areas, the programme has now passed the halfway stage nationally.

Contactless payment is currently available for single fares only. Daily and weekly tickets remain available through the Leap website and TFI Leap Top Up App, while Leap cards, cash and Free #Travel Cards continue to be accepted.

The NTA said the rollout supports efforts to modernise public transport fare systems, improve accessibility and provide more flexible payment options for passengers in rural and regional communities in Ireland.

🇮🇪🚧🚇 #Transport #Infrastructure #Ireland has launched the first stage of procurement for MetroLink’s main PPP contract, covering the design, build, financing, operation and maintenance of the #metro system for 25 years. The availability-based DBFOM contract will be delivered by a single consortium, with payments tied to performance. It excludes major civil works such as tunnelling, which are being procured separately. A pre-qualification process is now open, with up to three bidders to be shortlisted. Estimated at €7.3bn (NPV), the contract spans about 32 years, including construction and operations. The scheme marks a key step towards delivery of Ireland’s largest public transport project, aimed at improving connectivity, capacity and sustainability across #Dublin.

🚉🇮🇪 Iarnród Éireann plans to seek approval for two new rail stations in #Cork, at #Blackpool and #Dunkettle, marking the first of eight under the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme in #Ireland. The scheme aims to deliver trains every ten minutes on routes to Cobh, Midleton and Mallow. Blackpool will serve the Mallow line, while Dunkettle will act as a major park-and-ride hub linked to Cobh and Midleton services.

The wider programme includes completed and ongoing upgrades such as a new platform at Kent Station, track doubling to Midleton and network re-signalling, with electrification and further stations planned. More than 5,200 daily passengers are forecast at the two sites by 2035. Construction could begin in 2027, subject to approval and funding, and take up to two years.

Both stations will include accessible platforms, parking, cycling facilities and infrastructure for future electrification.
