Immigration law rant of the day: the IJs* aren’t fucking READING our MOTIONS. Too busy denying 94% of asylum applications.^ We spend hours refining our arguments just to get a snarky denial claiming we haven’t established x or y even though those facts are clearly laid out in the evidence we submit. And they keep switching cases between judges so someone totally unfamiliar with the record is making rulings. I’m so mad.

Feliz día de los muertos ❤️ for those welcoming pets' souls tonight. Día de los muertos festivities continue through Nov. 2 but today is our first day having the altar all put together for our beloved nonhuman family members

Here is the phrasing I used for my doctor’s letter: “I am the primary care provider for NAME. NAME has been diagnosed with a permanent disability which severely limits one or more aspects of POSSESSIVE PRONOUN daily life, including TYPE OF LIMITATION (e.g., mobility).”

I chose to list the diagnosis as well but I don’t think it’s technically required. I mostly did it for my doctor’s benefit so she’d know which issue I was referring to as a permanent disability.

I found out recently about the federal interagency Access Pass, which grants free admission to National Parks and other recreation lands to U.S. citizens and residents with permanent disabilities. I just went through the process online, and it took under 24 hours to have my pass approved. I hope other disabled people can also benefit! The pass also does NOT have Trump’s fucking face on it but instead has a cool bird, so that’s another benefit. https://www.recreation.gov/interagency-pass/types/access #disability #nature #uspol

I would rather hang out someone who distributes food weekly or pulls invasive weeds once a month or runs a semi-annual brake light clinic than someone who shows up once every 1-4 years to vote and then yells at everyone who didn’t for the following years instead of addressing WHY they didn’t vote. If politics is your thing, FINE, but you should be working on putting forward leaders that respond to nonvoters’ critiques instead of just berating them. C’mon.

I did it. I phone banked for Dems in Spanish. Someone said they were worried about the “illegal voters” news, and I told them if you have the right to vote don’t let them take it away!
I do think voting in local elections makes sense. I’m not saying it’s “harm reduction” but…it can reduce some harm though. I also think we should treat people who don’t vote at all with respect and fucking LISTEN to WHY instead of blaming them. Lots of nonvoters do WAY more for their communities than a Dem voter

It’s pronounced Spokane, not Spokane

The mascot of Ferris High School in Spokane is the Saxons (yes, as in Anglo-Saxons). Fascinating
