Speaking the obvious but I don't hear it enough...

AI billionaires say 'sure jobs will be gone, but we will have universal basic income!'

Who's going to pay for it? You, with taxes? Dude, you're not even doing that now. Why should we expect better behavior after we've surrendered all of our power to you?

I predict a lot of empty promises, followed by a famine. And them not giving a shit.

#Ecofascism is two unrelated concepts scotch taped together.

On one hand, we have Rich Westerner with his carbon-spewing yacht, SUVs, 10 acres of poisoned lawn/golf course, and 80% food waste.

On the other we have Subsistance Southerner with his hand-plowed field, who eats *every* part of the chicken, and sends his kids to school on the bus.

So yeah let's kill the second guy to protect the environment.

Am I the only one who thinks tearing down forests to build more houses won't solve the housing shortage?

We don't have houses because finance bought up all the houses. Untold houses are sitting empty. If we build more houses, finance will buy them up too. All we'll do is lose more forests.

I am curious about donating solar panels to Cuba. Is this group legit?

Polemic take:

Test Driven Development = Cart Driven Horse.

I've learned a time saver. Whenever I see a headline that starts with 'Trump says...', I dismiss it without reading. It's always bullshit.

Polemic take:

Apollo was a Cold War PR stunt.

Artemis is boomer nostalgia for a Cold War PR stunt.

The overall trend for software development is to build higher and higher stacks, greater abstraction, away from the machine itself.

But the higher the stack, the more it will break and fall. I swear the hardest part of my job is to just get the ever-breaking tools to work before anything else can even begin.

So it wasn't a population bomb, it was a population bubble.

Polemic take:

Unit testing is guaranteed to find all of the bugs you thought of when you wrote the unit test, and all it will cost you is double the maintenance burden.

Elevation Burger implies the existence of Depression Burger.

Now here is an actual use for 'AI'.

I did not know that e-books are getting overwritten. Very memory hole.

The thing is, if AI is everything its promoters say it is, it's bad.

But if AI is not what they say it is, it's bad.

You can sell your time but you can't buy it back.
