Our last morning walk for a while as we go back to work on Monday. Managed to get a few shots in and were very pleasantly surprised by butterflies landind on us both, not shown is a Blue which settled happily on my hand for a few minutes !

Very muggy in the woods today and pretty much no wildlife about, but flowers aplenty 🙂

Since it's Father's Day, I've been remembering my father. He died 25 years ago at the age of 89. I'll pass on to you the most important advice he ever gave me. I was in high school at the time. He told me that if a man -- boyfriend or husband -- ever hit me, I was to walk out the door and never go back. It didn't matter if I had done something to provoke the violence, I was to leave immediately. No second chances.

Men, girls need to hear these things from their fathers even more than they need to hear it from their mothers. Tell them.

A relatively early walk in the woods to miss most of the heat. It was still very warm and the wildlife was deep in the bushes.

Friends, asking for accounts on Mastodon or organizations that are about low vision resources. I am losing my sight (not from macular degeneration) and want to connect with others like me. It's pretty devastating for someone who's been an artist and photographer all my life, but accessibillity options are greatly improving. Currently using Zoom, Magnify and VoiceOver on the iphone. Just at the start of our walk today in a shady area on the path, I saw what looked like a leaf float down to a muddy puddle, then it moved! It was a tiny bird flitting from the puddle to the bushes. With no chance to adjust camera settings properly, I got some shots of what turned out to be a Firecrest having a bath in a mosquito infested muddy puddle ! Sooo cute, so sorry for the spam 🙂

On our walk there is a farm in the woods where quite often we see a couple of Red Kites. This evening there were about a dozen of them in the trees around the house. We were wondering if the farmer is feeding them at a set time, so they gather.
