messing around with unix sockets instead of doing my math homework :3

the other day i heard someone pronounce XFCE as ex-face. ive always just said X-F-C-E.

is ex-face a common way to say it??? what does everyone else say??

for a while I thought fedi was kinda dumb but I really like it now!

i thought there was no way that a social media platform without an algorithm could possibly be a good idea, but once I followed enough accounts it really started working well. i get to see posts from those I actually care about seeing posts from and if there is a post I might like from someone I don't follow, it will likely get boosted by someone I do follow!

it also feels like there is much more community here than on other platforms because of the fact that I often see almost every post and boost from the accounts I follow (at least since I started following them) and everyone seems very eager to interact

maybe social media algorithms were just a scam by big tech all along

neverslop/no ai includes rust btw. i see lots of entities get mad at others for using software that accepts llm-generated slop "contributions" while also shilling rust and programs written in it.

rust is ultra corporate, has an incredibly restrictive trademark policy unsuitable for a programming language, and wholeheartedly accepts llm-generated slop "contributions". an anti ai project written in rust does very little to help us be free from big tech.

techbros love rust, don't be like techbros.

#neverslop #noai #rust

the worst thing ever¹ is when a website uses a weird symbol in the title that isnt included in maple mono and it doubles the size of my waybar

1. only slightly exaggerating

what if they counted years based on the unix epoch?

im considering changing my name because i feel like luna might be too clocky. there are no white cis girls my age named luna so even if i could pass perfectly it might make me stand out.

but on the other hand, i do really like the name luna, at least like 50% of the people in my life have only known me as luna, and a transphobe clocking me based on my name seems extremely unlikely.

watch out Next.js...

i think my brain has become poisoned by suckless and the unix philosophy recently.

i started redoing my website in 11ty because its simpler than astro but i think i might just make my own static site generator because i dont need all of the features 11ty has and i dont want to run node.js if i dont have to

im going to call my ssg 67ty or something stupid like that

i just ruined my sleep schedule with a 5 hour nap :3

I FINALLY CONVINCED MY PARENTS TO SCHEDULE MY FIRST HRT APPOINTMENT!!

i feel like tech companies are getting especially bad lately and using free software is becoming more and more important. ive never really used fedi or matrix much because i know so many people who arent on these platforms, but more and more im realizing the solution isnt to give up for convenience, its to advocate for other people to use these things too so everyone can be more free

hi!! im very new to fedi and i thought this instance looked nice. im not sure how active ill be here but ive heard a lot of good things about fedi so i decided to give it a try
