Folding on life-saving measures is bad — folding on them because *Ken Sim* asked you to is worse.
When will the cowardice of the BC NDP end?
B.C. health minister says over...
American billionaires are buying up record amounts of farmland in BC. While provinces like Quebec have put heavy restrictions on foreign ownership, we’re watching some of the richest men in America make huge speculative purchases - pushing out locals and taking valuable land from farmers.
What an extraordinary human.
I pity the fool, etc.
That is something else you have yet to learn doctor, a real intelligence agent has no ego, no conscience, no remorse, only a sense of professionalism and mine is telling me to go

I'd like to replicate an experiment I learned about on an episode of #StarTalk this morning...I'd like for people to vote for either A or B, but in the end I need %95 of everyone to vote for A, and only %5 of everyone to vote for B. So vote how you would normally vote if just presented with options A or B
And please boost widely!

The original Twitter with its character limits was nothing. With bumper stickers, a sentiment had to be packed into a dozen words or less or it was just a blur.
“America: Love it or leave it.” That one rode around the country widely in the 1970s, a divisive time with anger over war, soaring gas prices and shady practices documented at the government’s highest levels. Ah, the past.

“Cyclists are often perceived as recklessly flaunting road laws. A new study challenges this perception. The study found only 5% of cyclists broke road rules while riding on bike infrastructure versus 66% of motorists who broke rules while driving.”
Safe bike infrastructure fuels rule-following.
Cyclists break road laws much ...

And…
If all that is daunting, there’s no shame in getting an electric keyboard instead! They don’t need tuning, humidity swings won’t ruin them, they need less space, you can move them without hiring specialized mover, you can use them for electronic music production, and you can make them sound like a marimba or whatever!
They’re a great choice for trying it out a little but you aren’t sure if it’s going to stick, or if you’re getting a kid started, or if your apartment is tiny, or etc etc.
Just do note what I said upthread about the mysterious attraction of the acoustic instrument. There are alternatives, but there are no substitutes.
/end #piano
You should budget a couple hundred dollars / year for tuning & maintenance.
Acoustic pianos, even mediocre ones, have a life and a joy in them that even very high-end electric keyboards cannot match. You’re much more likely to be drawn to play an acoustic!
And no, “but it has weighted keys!” does not change this equation. It’s more than key weight; it’s about the incredible organic complexity of the internals of these instruments. An electric can •sound• a lot better than all but the fanciest and best-maintained acoustics, but the acoustics will so often still •feel• better. And feel beats sound.
BUT…
Getting an acoustic piano is more like adopting a pet than buying an appliance, so set expectations accordingly!

If an immigrant can move to your country, not speak your language, have no connections or support system... and yet still manages to steal your jobs.
Maybe... just maybe... you're just a fucking idiot.
I'm not saying it's windy but I just saw a pack of beagles being blown up the high street with a couple of irate highland wildcats in moist pursuit
This horse waited his whole life for this moment.
In 1997, a horse jumped over a fence and joined the peloton of the of the Critérium International, eventually passing it, leaving the race only 20 km from the finish line.
Technically, that's hubris also, to belive you can teach him. This is the only laugh I've had all day, thank you beavertonians.
There’s an old story about a child picking up starfish that have washed up on the beach and putting them back in the ocean. A passerby points out this won’t matter, because there are thousands of them. The kid holds one up and says, “Well, it matters to this one.”
I grow tired of arguing with people on the internet who won’t save any starfish if we can’t save them all. Who willfully conflate “This won’t solve everything” with “This changes nothing.”
(This post is not actually about starfish.)

Stifling my laughter as I read some recent western Buddhist convert say they think Buddhist theocracies will be amazing. Who’s going to tell them about Sri Lanka and Myanmar and how very not amazing it was
