Well, the good news is the water level of Lake Mead is coming up a little bit.
Watching video on the news, I'm reminded of the phrase "too thick to drink, too thin to plow".

In the futile wish someone with decision making powers sees this, I have never had satisfactory results interacting with any sort of automated answering machine.
They ask what I need help with, make some fake typewriter noise, and fail to help.
The only time i ever get help, it is when a real person gets on the phone.

Apparently carbon monoxide can kill before the detector alerts.

Look at all those flood watches from San Diego all the way up into Idaho.

Our doctor is kind and honorable. If it had been bad news, I'm sure he would have called. So I wasn't really worried. Much.

I don't mean to criticize but when you are expecting what may possibly be life changing medical information, fighting through multiple layers of login security is not helpful.
Update: x-ray was unremarkable (insert long technical medical term here)
tl:dr good news.

Late afternoon sun on a green ash starting to change color.

Paul Revere seen here in Logan this morning supporting the best land grant university in Utah.

One nice thing about living near the Idaho border is having a neighbor who likes to drive up, get a trailer load of potatoes, and sell them to us. 50# of russets for $21. That will last us well into spring next year.

Something fun for you fire aficionados today. The volunteer fire department in Santa Claus, Indiana names their apparatus instead of giving them numbers. How did i learn this? Unit Dasher was getting fuel this afternoon at the gas station i was at.
The local applied technology college (what California calls a community college) bought this engine for their Fire Academy program for aspiring firefighters.
No links because they seem only to have a Facebook page.

Looks like some of the air tankers, including CalFire one, are reloading at Reno-Stead airport.

QST October, 2026

I gather it's raining in the Los Angeles river drainage.

For those of you who have trouble visualizing various heart rhythms and don't mind a Facebook video.

The economics of air tankers is a mystery to me. 10 Tanker posted a video of tanker 914 making a drop on the Wildhorse fire yesterday just before sunset. The tanker had flown from California, did 19 seconds worth of drop, then found a more local airport to spend the night.

I see on another social media site that 5 small fire departments in southern Humbolt county are sending a strike team of type 6 engines to the Timber fire. At least one of the departments, Petrolia Fire, is super excited because they have worked really hard to build their department to the point where they can help others.

They are pulling everyone off the fireline due to erratic winds and lightening. The rain seems to be cooling the fire.

Thunderstorms in the valley moving east northeast. Rain at my location.
More fires reported around the county, none confirmed yet.

A small brushfire in Logan canyon.
Lightning in the area. Sufficient resources on scene at the moment. https://share.watchduty.org/i/116929?ts=1787536851000
