Two people have died this week trying to cross the Channel.

People’s suffering should not be reduced to a trivial and cruel game.

I have a friend who is on iPad who needs a Mastodon app that can be used successfully with voice commands. He does not have use of his hands. He tried the official Mastodon app and finds it unusable. Is there another app that might be better? ACTUAL experience helps. Please don't Google this for me or try to give advice on using an iPad. He's a very advanced user. Thank you!

When I worked for Charter 88 (in the early 1990s) on constitutional reform, a frequent argument against abandoning first past the post elections was only FPTP would deliver strong Govt.s, while forms of proportional representation would slow down governance & require the building of consensus - all too slow for modern politics.

By argument then, as it is now; is look around us, this is the country so-called strong & quick Govt. has wrought; lets try something slower & consensual!

Then things changed in 2014. Stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress publicly called out Cosby for some of the rumors, specifically that he drugged and assaulted women. Women started to come forward with their own stories of things Cosby had done to them. It sparked the #MeToo movement, and Bill Cosby wasn't the only one called out. He was, however, one of the most visible because of his ubiquity in popular culture. Bill Cosby was tried, sentenced, and spent some time in jail but was able to be released due to a technicality (IIRC, he had given testimony about some of his activities after obtaining a promise that he would not be prosecuted). The damage, however, was done. People knew what Bill Cosby had done and they could not see him the same way again.

Now, I told you that story to tell you this one.

@Soozcat One of my favorite pastimes is buying up any copies of the HP books, movies, and/or merchandise in charity shops and destroying them. It's good, clean, cheap fun that makes the world a better place, in a small way.

Damn you Timber Merchant!
If you'd delivered, I could have made this header pond ready for water.
Instead it's still just mocked up, and will be until next weekend.
I have to say that even if I had been able to make it ready, the pond still needs much work.

An early start at the #allotment it's 08:30 BST.
I'm hoping to finish the groundworks for the #pond today. Sadly the timber merchant has let us down, so it'll be next weekend before I'm able to complete the job, that said, it'll be pretty close.

Speak up and get mad.
In the moment, not upon reflection.

I’ve failed this countless times; I hope I’ve gotten better over the years, but I have decades to make up for.

I just pre-ordered my #mastodon plushies!

That is all.

“Don’t be an idiot, Harry. Just ask him for directions.”

I’m sorry. I know I said hi, but I wasn’t really prepared for any follow-up conversation.
