Picard management tip: The truth is that sometimes you just won't know the right thing to do. You still have to try.

1) dass Handlungen der Polizei aus sehr guten Gründen mit anderen Maßstäben gemessen werden müssen, als Aktionen von zivilen Bürger*innen;

2) dass Körperverletzungen immer schwerer wiegen, als Sachbeschädigungen.«

Years ago I remember hearing about the subreddit r/actuallesbians. Some trans people were afraid that with a name like that it might be TERFy. It wasn't; it was inclusive (at least back then - I don't know about now). It was called "actual lesbians" because r/lesbians was not about lesbians as people, but about lesbians as a porn category.

Lesbians are the single group most likely to support trans people, with a massive 96% of lesbians under 25 in the UK being supportive, and it's not hard to see why.

The poll that found that figure suggested that lesbians are more likely to personally know a trans person, which may be part of the story, but more so I think it is a natural alliance because both lesbians and trans people are groups of real people that the patriarchy insists on reducing to porn categories.

Because as porn (or more specifically porn for the male gaze) is the only way both groups don't threaten patriarchy. It is how patriarchy contends with something Not For Them.

Had an interesting online exchange with an event organizer who asked me to repost their AI-generated car event flyer. I declined, and they asked why because AI is the latest and greatest thing. They were really polite and curious about it, so I linked my site https://whynoai.info and thanked them for being curious.

A day later they came back to me and said that they now understood why I took my position and that they respected it.

I like to think that I helped shine some light on this topic for one more person.

Ich möchte einen Presseclub zum Thema: Der Fall von Der Spiegel. Was wird aus dem deutschen Journalismus?

Children loved to play with toys in ancient times too: some 1,600 years ago, a child in Athens was buried with a terracotta horse on wheels.

It was certainly a much-loved which the child was also supposed to play with in the afterlife.

When I was catching the bus home from town today a boy got on but found his bus card had no credit left. He didn’t have any cash. The driver was very uncompromising - “no fare, no ride”.

Happily a woman behind him paid his fare because the driver would have left him there, 15k from home 🫤

This shouldn’t happen and of course it wouldn’t if children travelled free. They definitely should IMHO.

💯

A number of people have pointed this out in my timeline over the last months but I wanted to reiterate:

the defence - 'they were just a few bad apples', misses the actual point of the aphorism:

a few bad apples in a barrel, actually corrupts the entire barrel, unless removed (very)( quickly.

users of the phrase may defend that use by saying they acted quickly to avoid the corruption; but as they never really do, the original use - the corrupting effect *of* the bad apples, stands!

My new short story where I explore the relationship between Chinese and East Africans in the 14th-15th century, and my latest obsession: space travel in a culture that doesn't have our kind of technology, no human-generated electricity, and perhaps no wheel. Enjoy! It is free to read in this website. (After writing The Blossoming of the Big Tree I think I'm getting bolder in exploring anti-social MCs)
