In the final Hutt News letters to the editor under the heading “I (strangely) agree with Brian Tamaki”: 🤪
“I never thought the day would come when I would agree with Brian Tamaki, but it has. Sorry Andrew Baldwin (Letters, July 15) but "No immigration without assimilation", makes perfect sense to me. Henceforth all New Zealanders, especially those of European extraction, will be expected to prove they are fluent in the Mãori language and culture. Those who fail to meet the new standard will have a few years to upskill, before being tested again and possibly facing deportation.”
