I also my receipt for when I got it serviced "recently". In 2016. What is time even?
Here we go. New needle and thread. A clean out and oil. Tweaking a few knobs, and we seem to have it running smooth as butter.
Also I have here the original purchase certificate from 1973!!
The engineering is really something isn't it?
Bernina 830. #sewing
The last of the garlic went in today.
We have been out shopping this morning for new needless, and some fabric. My daughter and I are both overwhelmed and lost in the #sewing store but we are working it out.
My approach would be to go be a salesperson and all all my dumb questions, but she refuses to talk to them so it's interesting.
My daughter is trying to learn to sew. The 50 year old Bernina I have here is giving her some problems and I don't know enough to know if it's a machine or a technique issue.
Are modern machines much different? Easier? Especially for a beginner.
Advice welcome. :)
Oh yep, right there. That's when my back decides we are done doing physical things for the day.
I think its getting better. I'm starting some #kettlebell work the help strengthen it and hey, we got a good 6 hours of work outside in the #garden today.
Time to be an inside mom.
There's a conservative idea that if you provide free services people will mob you and steal all your stuff.
Just go to the library. It's full of free services that accept everyone, and yet the library is anything but overrun with people. It's kind of empty. There's always fresh food in the community pantry near the front doors. There's classes every day. Clinic on Thursdays. Come on down.
For a mid winter garden, I'd say we're doing OK. I've just had a big chat with my neighbour for advice on chickens too. Looking forward to spring.

Goats are like if cows ran a dexterity build instead of a strength build. Don't get me wrong, some goats are ridiculously strong.
Cows add in the strength, and perhaps some wisdom. After all, if it wasn't meant to be eaten, why is it mouth sized?

This may be the best COVID-oriented community note in X/Twitter history.

Got a weird side project you'd love to see happen, but don't have the time?
Want an experienced developer behind you while you learn enough to do it yourself? I'm happy to do that, too!
DM me here or email me at my handle at gmail and we can discuss your needs!
(I have an hourly rate. I have discounts for small business and individuals. I also will happily discuss the project and do project based pricing!)
Is "Vibe Coding" the modern "Water Dowsing"?

Millennials, we have the opportunity to change the stigma around aging. The next time you encounter someone born after 2000, consider having a normal conversation instead of hollering "GOD HAVE MERCY MY BONES ARE TURNING INTO DUST!"
I think I've used up all my emotions for 2025 already. The last few days are so flat. It's not the worst.
