@xgranade Magic the Gathering draft parameters and potential standard decks.

@xgranade perhaps some of these perspective-shifting cubes

(there was a thing a few years ago where Samsung got caught outright replacing people's pictures of the moon with their own pre-baked ones. it took some creativity to prove it was happening. photo quality, or the appearance of it, sells phones, and also the company never apologized that we saw, so we see no reason to expect that kind of activity to have stopped.)

Sigh, the voice models appear to be downloaded at runtime from a seemingly random HuggingFace repo, which really does not help with the whole provenance question.

I think the right answer is to strip this all out for the same reason as the LLM antifeatures.

Voice transcription is labor, too.

The wrong things are being optimized

@xgranade It'd be flash fiction that is only tangentially related to cubes until it very suddenly is *very about cubes*

@xgranade Cartilage Head style presentation of various cubes different in size and composition with no speaking only creepy long-fingered gesturing and a tiny old victrola playing in an otherwise silent room.

@xgranade Here are some pictures of my cubes

Taco Bell Ode, cont. (5/5)

“Nobody chooses Taco Bell, Taco Bell chooses you. It’s not Mexican food, it’s American technology inspired by a rumor about Mexico. It’s what happens when a tortilla gets a marketing degree, moves to Las Vegas, and stop speaking to its family

“And somehow at 2:00 AM it tastes like forgiveness wrapped in industrial cheese”

- Éros Brousson

Taco Bell Ode, cont. (4/?)

“If your night ends at Taco Bell, do not judge yourself. Taco Bell is not the bad decision, it’s where all the bad decisions meet afterward to exchange insurance information

Taco Bell Ode, cont. (3/?)

“I asked for the cheese taco thing and the cashier looked at me like I had walked into NASA and asked for the space button.

“Taco Bell doesn’t have a menu. It has a witness protection program for tortillas. Every item is tortilla, meat, cheese, more cheese, and a sauce named after a cologne sold next to vape pens”

Taco Bell Ode, cont. (2/?)

“And I walked in and looked at the menu. Why does every item sound like a medieval prince who inherited a gas station? You cannot just order a taco, you need a ‘Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco Supreme.’ That’s not food. That’s a full legal name of a child whose father owned a boat.”

Ode to Taco Bell, by Éros Brousson:

“For years I thought that Taco Bell was a fictional restaurant in video game like GTA, a place that only existed between a strip club, a gun store, and a man in a Hawaiian shirt committing a felony.

“Then I landed in Miami and there it was: between a strip club, a gun store, and a man in a Hawaiian shirt committing a felony. The purple bell glowing in the dark like a church for people whose evening has gone horribly wrong”

(1/?)

@xgranade Well Cassandra, obviously I'm submitting my cubes.

@xgranade I have a game dev talk somewhere about most games just being fancy moving boxes i feel like would fit this perfectly.

@xgranade oh definitely a fancy Rubik's sequence-exploration tool

@xgranade I feel like I don't understand the question, because the answer is too simple. cubes, obviously

A surreal thought experiment: suppose there's an academic or industry conference, a convention panel, or similar that seems to be really cool — maybe it's somewhere you want to visit, or there's cool people you want to hang out with.

The weird thing about said event is that the CFP or panel submission guidelines consist of a single word, namely "cubes."

What are you submitting to said event?

There are two options.

1. Anthropic have successfully created an intelligent, sapient and conscious digital being, who is their property and whose uncompensated labour they knowingly rent out to their clients. This means that Anthropic executives are reprehensible slavers, and they belong in prison.

2. Anthropic are lying through their teeth and are whipping up "language models are sentient" sentiment in order to delude rubes^H^H^H^H^Hcustomers into being unable to properly assess their technology. This means that Anthropic executives are reprehensible frauds, and they belong in prison.

AI CEOs should have their lives be made a living hell.
take for example Anthropic claiming Claude can feel pain. they should immediately be sued for false advertising, then if they (somehow) convince the court it isn't false advertising, take them to court for slavery.
either they're lying or they're slave owners. they can't have both. i believe it's obviously the first one, and that under the threat of jail they'll admit it.
