As someone who grew up with the Amiga, which had 512kb of RAM and a 7 Mhz processor, I feel confident that personal computing will survive all of this.
My Amiga had it all GUI Desktop, multi-tasking, mouse, sound, ...
We may not get stronger and stronger machines with more and more RAM.
But maybe just maybe we go back to focus on resource constrained optimized OS and hand crafted games and software.
I have an old JBL 3 Charge Bluetooth Speaker. And the battery died years ago. I finally took the time to open it up and take out the dead battery. Of course it was swollen and possibly dangerous.
I decided to not replace the battery as I use it cable bound anyway.
It did not want to start without the battery.
But when you remove the charging circuit of the dead battery and just clip it in it will work fine.
So remember to keep the charging circuit!
Every profession should unionize.
We should show solidarity towards every profession that is being affected by industry wide layoffs.
We should not show Schadenfreude towards professions who did not unionize and are affected.

Since I live in Spain I try to adapt my eating habits to the local timetable.
Eating at 8 or 9 pm when it is cooling down and the sun is loosing its power.
But oh man at 6 pm I start to get hungry and at 7 I am in a mood altering low sugar need some food or I gonna lose it mode.
I guess I will need a couple of years more to adapt 😂
Who remembers the Snickers add "You are not yourself when you are hungry" ... yeah, that's me.
Todays project was building a solar dehydrator. I have so many figs this year that I want to dry as much as I can.

The idea of a duress/wipe code on the phone is good.

Does not need to be the final ones just a quick prototype.
I find it so motivating to see it in the project selector, taskbar and the splashscreen when booting the project.

On Todays iOS I needed to make a shortcut that sets media volume, ringtone volume, silent mode and do not disturb to 0/off or 1/on to semi consistently achieve the same result.
I mapped it to the extra button on the side.

Since the introduction of LLMs most automatic translations services/apps have become worse and worse as they all switched to available models rather than improving whatever they used before.
I am still learning Spanish and use them frequently to fully understand the context. Luckily I got better over the last year.
Since it seems that I cannot avoid LLMs for translation I opted to run a translate model locally and use it through a cinnamon applet that simply calls ollama through curl.
Just freed my kindle paperwhite 😎

Time to buy a battery for my solar installation. The power grid in my little corner of Spain is a bit unreliable.
We get regular power outages. This time they say it will be 4 hours until operations are restored.
And a solar inverter without batteries is useless as they are not allowed to operate when the grid is offline. There is power coming from the solar cells but I cannot use it 😭

Back in the early 90s when Commodore went bankrupt and took my beloved Amiga with them I was angry towards the Commodore leadership for a long time.
Back then I read in the news that the Amiga was making profits and instead of investing in the Amiga they put the money in their failing PC segment which in turn made the Amiga fall behind.
Is there any truth to this? Or was this just the head canon of a disappointed teen who lost his favorite tech?
